rb25 boost problem-high pitch scream and power loss

u having a drastic boost leak like the one in ur description leads me to ur manifold or turbo. i remember one of my turbos in the pass was actually bleeding the air out the inlet on the turbo. check to c if there is a o-ring on the backing plate of the comp housing. what kind of gasket are you using in b/w the mani and turbo as well as w/g and mani. its got to be something stupid.

If you have an exhaust leak you should hear it at idle. When my turbine housing wasn't tightened all the way down I could hear it at idle. It sounded like ****. It was hardly loose as well.

Go over all those nuts on the turbine housing and exhaust manifold and make sure.

I'd also check your intake manifold nuts, as well as the the valves that mount to it, along with those vac lines.

the sound that only comes out is when its high pressure like 12psi and more...it is loud but more of a raw high pitch sound sounding like metal piping related. its almost like a sound of a drag car when wot. the car runs fine and solid till i hit 12+psi. its when it starts to yell.

from troubleshooting..i have eliminated the:

intake/maf piping to turbohotpipefmicintake manithose piping

i dont think its the exhaust mani to the block either. since i put silicone on the one flange thats got one broken stud and it hasnt ripped yet.

tightened all the bolts on compressor housing, etc.

any other ideas?

are you using an internal or external wastegate, using a t3 hybrid im sure that you are using external and it sounds like to me you are hearing you wg opening up throught the open dump tube hahaha i may be wrong you say it only happens when you hit the boost setting or 12 psi, and mabye your wastgate is bleeding off too much exhaust and you are losing boost pressure

I checked it out today and it is his wastegate, and the sound was due to it being a open one at that. No dump tube either so it made its noises.

The boost tapering off seems like a gasket leak pre-wg and ebc settings.

thanks for taking the time to swing by ricky. really appreciate it. after getting some ideas n some thinking, it was exactly what ricky stated.

the loud sound was the wg being open with no dump pipe. the boost problem was the ebc settings. i messed with it some more today and got the car to hold boost and it feels great. just get super loud when it screams. need to get the wg recirculated when i find somone who can and has the time to do it ....ricky...*wink*
