Hi,

I finally got to start my RB25. Unfortunately, I could hear a rod knock pretty easily. So what I did is take off the engine from my S14 and took off the oil pan.

My question is, should I use OEM rod bearings or should I go with Clevites, ACL or King instead. If anyone has any experience with them, please let me know.

Thanks for the help.

I would go with ACL Race series bearings. Take a look here > ACL Race bearingsAdvantages:

1)Tri-metal engine bearings that are micro-fine machined for tight wall tolerance and have increased wall eccentricity for higher RPM

2)Connecting rod bearings have hardened steel backing which helps maintain their crush under higher load and temperature conditions during operation.

3)Tighter, and more consistent wall tolerances help maintain accurate clearances

4)Main bearing grooves occupy only 3/4 of the circumference thereby providing optimum oil supply while increasing the surface area for better load-carrying capacity.

5)Increased crush and the elimination of flash plating improve seating of bearings in their housing for better thermal transfer from bearings to rods and block.

once you figure out your bearing tollerances, go to ebay and look for a seller by the name of MAPerformance. i bought my acl's from him - cheapest around

Awesome, thanks. I've ordered King' rod & main bearings at Compulsive HP also.

On another note, have a nice and safe Independance Day tomorrow from a French Canadian RB enthousiast.
