Hey,

Looking at buying a 4 door for drag racing Friday nights (on a track not street), just for fun. I was wondering if the auto transmission can take any power? Not a 1000hp motor or anything, but just for fun.

Anyone else have a tuned up auto Skyline? Can RB26's be mated to an auto? A lot of the fast drag Supras and all seem to be autos, so I was just looking into it. Please no bashing, of course I prefer manual, but for this one instance auto might be best?

I posted this in the Skyline section too, but it might be more of a motor set question then car...

Thanks!

Simon

Check on SAU or skylinesdownunder.

I only think there is one maybe two guys that have a auto.

PS. a lot of those Supras have built transmission's also.

I thought of using an automatic for my project. There is not much information about using the stock Nissan automatic anywhere. The closest I could come up with would be to use one of Specialty-Z's transmissions behind my RB30/26. It would have involved sending them the trans for the rebuild. http://www.specialtyz.com/transmission.htmIt would have involved using a Z32 Twin Turbo ECU setup. But I never did contact them about the posibility of doing it.

Another option was to use an adapter from ATI to use the GM 700R4.http://www.atiperformanceprodu...t.htm There are a few guys on Hybrid Z are using GM TH350's and Powerglides for drag racing on the RB 25's and 26's. GM auto transmissions have the same bolt patern.

None of the aftermarket engine management systems support the automatic transmission. Now I have a RB25 5-Speed so it is all a mute point with me.
