Hey um I got a rb26 transmission with a rb25 motor... uh.. where would i get a rb25 transmission? The guy who I bought the rb25 only sold it to me for $700 w/ a blown head and all it needs is a new head and a transmission. I got a hold of a head... now I need... a transmission... help. or what can i use... thats in the US? I mean I searched and everyone posts bull**** so I want to know teh real deal.

Get an RB25DET transmission. There are threads about the Z32 trans, but your shifter is going to sit further back and you would have to use the RBs bellhousing anyhow. I am not sure if the AWD trans bellhousing would work on the Z32.

As far as where to get one, check McKinney or any engine importer. Shoot some emails off.

i would be inclined to think that the rb26 bellhousing is the same as rb25 or similar enough to be adapted to the z32 trans in the same fashon as the rb25 trans is, since 25 trans bolts up to 26 motor. anyone confirm this? i would think that if there are any differences it would be on the trans side and not the engine side.

or just take out the transfer case and seal up the hole on the 26 trans. i think theres another member doing the very same thing.

I am sure the bolt pattern on the engine side of the bellhousing is the same, it would be the gear box side that might be different.

Hate to be a downer, but from my own expierence trying to find an RB25 transmission is a nightmare...unless you've got loads of green to throw around. They can be had, but I just feel the demand for them is way overinflating the price. JGY customs out of atkins, VA has a ~500hp RB25 swapped into a mustang, its running an RB20 transmission with no problems. The way I feel, unless you have obscenely high power goals, running an RB20 transmission is a viable option.

RB20--RB25--RB26 share the same bolt pattern and trans will interchange, in some cases (like ?R34 the flywheel/ clutch must be changes or trans modifoded to pusher clutch...The RB26 AWD trans can be made to work, but its heavy and requires lot of work or some floor pan mods....

Isn't the RB20 Trans the same thing as the KA???I'm sure you can find one really quickly, easily and cheap. If it blows its a pain in that ***, but you can get another one for real cheap.Or you could also buy two and get one rebuilt, have them cyrotreat, shotpeen let them do whatever they do to make it stronger and last longer.

Ok, so if i get an RB20DET transmission to replace whatever the hell i had in the first place, which had an output yoke the same as a 300zx, would i need to change the yoke on my current one piece from a Zx output yoke to a KA output yoke?

The reason i ask is becuase im tired of waiting to try and find another RB25DET transmission and i need my 240 running again. Im only going to be running around 350 rwhp and i know an RB20DET transmission can hold this.

a RB20 trans has the same output as the KA/SR. meaning a stock driveshaft works with it.

i have a RB20 transmission on my engine. its held up well so far.
