Ok i will try to keep this as short as possible.

I own a 1997 240sx SE and have just come across a smoking deal on a r33 clip. I have been planning to do the RB25det swap for a few months now but have been questioning it latley due to emissions.

My car is ODBII and as far as i understand there are no OBDII skylines so I need to find some way to get through emissions. the engine will pass a sniffer test and visual (workers here are retarded) but because its OBDII all they do is plug the scanner into my ECU and check for emissions equipment working properly.

this is a problem because the skyline obviously dosent have this capability.

it was just brought to my attention that Motorex has to have converted the r34's to OBDII, how did they do it?

any and ALL suggestions are welcome! PLEASE give me advicePM me, email [email protected], AIM hawk0028

i need to figure this out somehow..

to get a start at it, you may want to search on yahoo or google for "obd II"

this will let you know what it actually consists of and then you can ask around and see what the RB has.

There are NO RBs from Japan that have OBE II on them. YES, Motorex has SOME of their Skylines switched over from OBE I to OBE II. If the Smog guys are looking for OBE II stuff then they will know its not a US spec motor and fail you.

If the motor swap and wireharness has been done right then it will show up that all of the smog stuff is working correctly. You will need to find out what they are really looking for (As in Smog stuff).

I know alittle bit how they got the ECU stuff to work, but I can try to find out they rest. SInce it was done right down the street from me.

I requires a special ECU (modified 300ZX), but only has limited OBDII as MotorX has a waver on some of the OBDII systems same as the 300ZX did. A new computer is in works by MotorX to try to get full complance, but only on the 2000 and up cars I think. You would have to get the computer from them. Any OBDII car is going to be a problem even trying to get it legal in the easy states..

I was under the impression that in some states if obdii doesn't check out they will put you on the rollers and check your tailpipe emissions.

I was trying to say that he should see what OBDII classification has and then see how it needs to be changed on the RB in terms of harness and stuff. ECU, dang, get in touch with motorex
