Hey guys,

I had the dreaded shift fork destruction in my 25 trans and I'm wondering if anyone here has had any luck finding billet shift forks that don't cost almost as much as another RB25 trans. I wish Nissan hadn't made the damn things from aluminum!

Also, anyone ever tried cryo-treating the stock forks?

take it to a local machine shop/cnc shop then can no doubt make you one. It will cost $$$$$. But we do similar stuff where I work. We have a local guy that I know of who could easily make one.

Any ballpark on what that should run for one fork?

I'd say anywhere from $300-1000, it really depends on the company, and I'm not sure of the tolerance's and finish of the bearing surfaces, its most likely a 32 or 64... the more precise the company has to be the more $$$ it costs. But it will be worth it...

Do keep in mind Nissan most likely intended the shifter fork to fail before the gears, and key sets.... So if you make it stronger you will most likely find another weak link.

PPG out of Australia has a billet unit but so far I've been finding them going for upwards of $400 and unfortunately my budget is tight as of late If I can find someone stateside selling them for closer to 300 then I might just go for it and see what breaks next.

Thanks for the help, Shocker, and congrats on your recent retirement from the NRRB club Hopefully I'll be retiring once this gearbox nonsense is over.

haha thanks man! Yeah call around see what you can find I guess that would be your best option.

I know if I break mine I'll have a local company do it for me.
