Nope, not another "has anyone ever done a rb20dett?" thread.

I decided to build a twin turbo rb20, well actually I got drunk and ordered a TT manifold because it seemed like a good Idea at the time but anyways....

The goal is to create a 300rwhp'ish rb20 with minimal turbo lag and decent low end power in the LEAST cost effective way

There, I said it. Going twin turbo is probably a bad idea, but whatever.

In the end, it will be a true sequential setup with an exhaust gas control valve, pre-spool valve, and one way reed/intake air valve. However, for the time being I an just going to fab up some downpipes to get it running before I add a bunch of extra variables.

Anyways, it should be fun. I am putting it together little by little, so it won't be done anytime soon. I will update this thread as I make progress.

he better hope so, or he'll have to re-make the rear half of the mani. If it isnt i see clearance problems at either the master cylinder or the steering shaft.

hows the quality on that intake manifold? I've seen it on ebay before and have been thinking about picking it up. I've searched for stuff about it on here and there's been nothing definitive.

Anyway, a buddy of mine is doing this on his rb20 as well. I dont really see the point, but kudos for trying something new. I look forward to seeing your progress.

yea that looks like that the little bottom mount snail is gonna have clearance issues but it does look like a sick setup though.

i have to say this is very original! looks like it will be a interesting setup. keep us posted all the way, and i agree with the rest that manifold is gonna be hell to get to work on a LHD chassis, RHD swap it if not!

Thanks for the comments, I expected alot more flaming.

Yea, its the phoenix manifold that was on Ebay forever.

The car isn't RHD yet, but it will be. I finaly picked up a hatch for a DD, so now I can take my time building the vert(which already has an rb20 in it). While this car is going to remain street legal, its going to be more of a track/weekend fun car.

As for the intake manifold, it is built realy well. However, I havn't had it on a running motor yet...so I cant comment on how it performs.

I would like to see it running in the next 6 months, but I am not going to rush myself because I'd rather do it right the first time. Hopefuly an update shortly...

The throtle body is 90mm, a bit overkill.

If I were to do it again I'd go with an 80mm at the most.

and yes, I am fisting my intake

Definitely interesting... that's an external WG pipe right? Looks like it might not be very effective... might be worth shortening it somehow

better add a rollbar to your list of mod's if you plan on tracking it. your car wont pass tech at any event in AZ the way it sits right now

best of luck with the TT setup, youll want more than 300whp when your done tho

It will sit higher than pictured to meet regulation.

Thanks for the advice joe, your driving skill will never cease to amaze me. BTW, at least my coolant overflow tank didn't come from a convinence store

Yea, I agree that the wastegate could be in a much more efficient location. This manifold was set up for larger turbo's, explaining the length of the W/G pipe.

Good to know my old motor's going to some use.

Like others have said, I hope RHD is on your list of mods because that will never ever clear.

More about the turbos please.

Good luck-Max

Sorry Joel, but I don't think I've been to Vegas...maybe there is another TT rb20 not too far, or were you in AZ??

Both turbos are Greddy. The larger one is a td04 11B, and the smaller one is a td025. Together they should be good for 340hp. Suprisingly, the small(er) one can flow enough to support up to 140hp on its own.

If I ever upgrade for more power, I will probably change out the smaller one for another td04. This would support the 400hp range. Any higher than 400hp I would choose a different platform to begin with.

It didn't, at least not for now.

The time/money involved in getting the setup to work in my s13 just isn't worth it right now.

I still love the idea and have all the parts, but I'm gonna wait to get my car running with the single turbo/ITB's first so I can just drive it again.

Here's the current setup...

Just needs a tune and should be ready to go once I get it back from the paint shop.
