Ok...I got my Consult cable in, but my signal wires don't seem to match what my FSM shows on the car's plug.

I need to know:

Exactly what each wire (and color) is on the Blazt cableandExactly what each wire (and color) is on the Consult port.

P.S.....is there anything special about my ECU it is the one that came with the clip, so I'm just wondering if it is stock or not??

you have a sohc therefore do not have a consult port...you'll need to wire one in manualy.

huh?????? Please explain?? Are you saying that I have a RB20_ET?? My clip's vin plate even says RB20DET...check the engine pics, but please don't laugh at the wheels/wing...lol

Can you tell me what each wire is by its color on the Blazt USB consult cable? I compared it to the FSM for a RB20DET (which showed a 14-pin connector) and no wire for the CHK signal on the USB cable.

Also...on my cars 17-pin connector, I don't know which wire is the IGN signal...

anyways...I need some help on the wiring obviously...

Ok, you're s13 was a single cam KA24E before the swap is what he's saying. All you have to do is get another Nissan with a consult cable and manually wire it in to all the right wires. KA24E-powered 240sx's did not have the consult system. They had an ealier version of Nissan diagnostics. Anyway, that's you're only problem. Worry about consult later. Consult is not a necessity, it's just a tool for diagnostics.

edit...ok...i'm an idiot... My car DOES have the 14 pin connector. It was hiding..lol

But now I can't get Datascan to connect to my ECU. I have already matched the "port" and "port speed", and I even tried both sets of drivers as recommended by blazt.biz.

I am guessing that one (or all) of the signals is missing on the 14pin connector, so any help on how to test the TX, RX, CLK, CHK, or IGN is very much needed.

Can anyone confirm when I should click "connect"?? I've tried clicking it before key on, while key on, and during cranking, but just won't connect...just sits there...doing nothing...lol Does this even connect to the ECU if the engine is not idling??

You can connect with the key on. Engine does not have to be running. I think all you need is rx, tx, and clk for consult to work. Are they wired from your dash harness to the ecu harness correctly?

Yeah, it was a factory plug on the rb20 harness and I traced my RX and TX wires to it. I work graveyards so I only had a couple hours to find it and play with the Datascan, then I had to crash. I'll be looking at it tomorrow again, so I hope someone can tell me what to measure on those 5 signals

I have a multimeter and a testlight....12v and gnd are easy enough, but I don't know what voltage or +/- to look for on the IGN, CLK, CHK, RX, and TX wires in it..lol

OK...here's a summary of what I have:

my usb cable has five wires on the 14-pin connector:

BlueBlackRed YellowWhite

When I plug this into the car's 14-pin connector, I get the following matches:

USB___________to____________CarBlue________________________YellowBlack________________________Black/PinkRed_________________________BlackYellow_______________________BlueWhite_______________________Light Green

Using my FSM, I know that (out of the ECU):

PIN.......signal...........color21........RX..................yellow/green stripe22........TX..................Yellow31........CLK...............Yellow/red stripe45........IGN...............Black/red stripe47........CHK..............Yellow/purple stripe

as stated just before me, it can be found in the driver's side kick panel on a stock 240sx (all cases, I assume???), but if you have a motor swap, then it will probably be on the wiring harness about 10 inches away from the swapped ecu (??)

Here is my other thread that I wrote after this one, once I finally got finished.

zerothread/314850

I never got back to figuring out why datascan wouldn't connect when that plug behind the glovebox was plugged in, but I am pretty sure now that it was because of a loose ground on the cable, so ignore that part...lol

I think there is a pic of the 14pin connector on the link above also...
