Allright hopefully i can get someone who had a similar problem im gonna try to list everything i've gone through/have done so you guys have some info on the situation so excuse me if its a little long. I have a rb20det swap in a s13 SOHC. Wired up using carl h's guide. My harness came with the eccs and fuel pump relays and plugs cut off but the 4 wires for each were still there in their looms. i looked at the FSM and was completely stumped cause it was telling me that pin 49 and 59 (control unit power supply black/white wire) had to be hooked up and that wasn;t anywhere to be found in the loom. I have it but it wasn't in that area. I believe for the ECCS relay there was orange pin 16 wire, White/Purple hooked up to engine compartment fuse box white wire for 12v, white wire going to coil power and white black wire for key on 12v. needless to say we tried hooking up the relays and got nothing, no spark.
So as of right now the relays are off and we just hooked up a 12v key on power to the white wire to the coil and now there is spark. when i turn the motor over with some start fluid it will fire up at WOT but will idles terribly and dies out after 5-10 seconds. I know the timing is obv way off with the CAS but then i thought ok maybe the belt jumped a tooth or something. Double checked that and its all good. like i said im getting fuel, when i take the CAS off and turn it, i can hear injectors clicking. But the other thing is also due to the wiring that i followed in the guides the black and pink wire from ecu is connected to black/pink on chasis harness and the fuel pump with key on is constantly running. that dosen;t seem to be a real problem but also seems to be no need for the fuel pump relay near the ecu as well. But yea im not sure if this is a problem with the eccs relay not being wired in, or if its just a seperate timing issue. the other thing i was thinking is maybe its too much fuel. Im running a 255 wally and stock FPR i need to get a adj soon, i don;t have a fuel pressure gauge hooked up yet but i figured maybe with that pump constantly running and too much fuel pressure could it be im just flooding the motor out? after about 5 seconds of turning the starter you can tell theres no spark and the motor just turns over till you shut it off and try a few seconds later then it will pop and almost start then same thing.
anyway thats my story and what i got. i really want to figure this thing out soon im DYING to drive it! any help is appreciated. also want to add i checked the ignitor, coils, grounds etc with a multimeter according to FSM spec and everything checked out. my only other idea is ECU? and speaking of that my ecu seems to have NO led or selector screw for diagnostics....
