I just bought a 1992 240sx with a rb20det in it. On the way home from buying it the radiator poped. It was running after i put the new one in. Then the cas shaft snapped i got a new one. It was out of a j30 i had read on here that it would work on the rb. Put it on and it will not start or even back fire. The motor has been completly retimed and everything set at TDC. I dont knows goin i have checked spark and fuel im at a lose. So any help will be much appreciated! I'm in Arkansas

You prob need to repin the plug to make it work. Look up the diagram for the J30 CAS and the RB20 CAS and repin to match.

Check to make sure the drive gear in the exhaust cam didn't break off. I bet it has.

Justin your going to have to do it the hard way. Find a FSM for the Z32 since I'm sure the J30 uses the same CAS and find the FSM for the R32 and look up the wiring to see which pin is what on both. Then rewire the plug to match the Z32. I would prob search the s*** out of google 1st tho lol.

What's the Z32 and a FSM? I'm new to all this so I'm not sure what that means

Z32 = 300zx the 90's one. FSM = Factory Service Manual. You can find them online in PDF format.

Ohhh I was confused, I thought you said you were running a J30 CAS on your RB20. You can test the CAS by just spining it with your hand and see if you hear the injectors click and pull a coil pack with a spark plug and lay it on the valve cover and watch to see if it's arcing. That will let you know what your missing, fuel or spark. The RB20 uses two relays for fuel and spark, at that point you might want to check to make sure they are getting power which ever one isn't working.

Where would the relays be at? And I have spark I'm thinking it's a fuel problem

If it's wired to the cluster you won't need any or if the led on the ecu isn't fubared. it flashes the numbers on the check engine code. slow flashes are the 1st number and the fast flashes are the 2nd number. If you see it flash 5 slow then 3 fast that's 53. Then u look up code 53 online.

Here is my question I'm getting the all clear code from the ecu but still not starting up. The cas is in the right spot. Plugs are sparking when I had pulled them out to check them. But even with starting fluid put into the intake I can't get anything. I'm at a loss

So your getting spark but no fuel? Do you have the 2 green relays in place? they are really close to the ECU.

Both relays are good. You can feel them both click on then off when you turn the key on and off. But even with starting fluid sprayed down the intake I don't get anything

try reversing the fuel lines at the rail if the injectors are not spraying.

btw did you take the CAS off and spin it by hand with the key on to see the injectors spray and the coils fire?
