ok ok so i know there are a ton of RB wiring topics but i was curious to know if anyone installed the Rb20 without the help of a KA harness, even a lower one. a local guy said that when he put his in, he didnt use any KA harness but it seems (at least on here) that using the KA harness is the way to go.

also, i have one single cam 240sx and one dual cam shell. the wiring doesnt seem to difficult but what about using the single cam harness and putting it into the dohc shell with the rb20. will that make it that much more difficult or should i just source a dohc KA harness to use in the RB swap. thanks

i pretty much built my own lower harness

and by built i mean run wires for speed sensor and starter. i dont need none of those other sissy sensors on the transmission

but seriously, its alot easier to use the KA lower harness because it will plug directly into your fuse box and aleviate alot of headaches.

what about plugging a sohc lower harness into a dohc fuse box.(this also applies to interior wiring, such as dash harness and guages etc...)i know there are things to consider when swapping a sohc KA to a dohc KA with wiring. is all that the same? if so, ill should be set to go on my rb20 swap. thanks again

the ka dohc and sohc lower harnesses are identical, its the auto and manual ones that differ.you will find that if you are going from a manual to a manual (ka) and chassis is manual then there will not be a problem.as for the actual wiring bit its ideal to have a ka efi harness for 3 of the plugs (2 are in the engine bay and 1 is in the car).the interior plug varies from dohc to sohc car so you will need the respective plug for that car.
