Hello,I am getting a new motor for my dune buggy and have an opportunity to get an RB20DET for a great price. It will be bolting it up to a VW bus transaxle which (obviously) wont be a straight bolt up so I need to get a clutch adapter kit from this place. http://www.kennedyeng.com/vw_por.htm Unfortunately they dont make a kit for the RB so I was wondering if there are any other trannys that have the same bolt pattern or will fit on an RB series motor? Thanks alot for the help-Sebastianbtw: here are so pics of the buggy (with the old beetle motor)

Thing is pretty sweet! Have you measured? How do you plan on mounting it?

If you need a cheap one to make the adapter from... they don't go for very much on ebay so check that or check with an importer

One of my good friends can fab up pretty much anything and has agreed to help me out with this so I can probably use the stock mounts, and mounting shouldn't be to difficult (and just because i said that, it will be).

I wont be making the adapter, K.E.P. will get that fun job. They did said they make a kit for the SR20 and the 96+ 3.0 V6. (not sure if that helps though)

wow, are you sure you're going to have clearance to fit an inline-six where a flat-four used to be?

if so, get it done, i'd love to see it.

Im going to do a bit of chop and rebuild to get the correct fit. Any Ideas as to a transmission that would fit?

Wow...with the extra length you'll add for the length of an RB, get ready for some front wheels off the ground!! That is if you hang all of it off behind the axle...

yup, on the street ill probably have to use a wheelie bar. Just did the math and if there is a transmission that fits, it will do 0-60 in 3.2edit: Did some more research and a SR and a KA transmission use the same bolt pattern so if you can use a KA transmission on the RB than it should work. Can anyone verify this?
