Heres the story:

1990 infiniti m30 with rb20det swap. Going off of the project car mag and theyre wiring. Firstly let me note that the engine is assembled minus the belts, alternator, maf, and turbo connected.

We went off of the project car magazine wiring and once finished it would not start. the 2 relays by the ecu are good, fuel pump comes on, engine is getting fuel, either ignitor, coils, or spark plugs arent getting power. The following is the sequence of when the ecu gets power:

key in-no
acc- no
on- yes
turn key- loses power
back to on- yes
back to acc- yes
remove key- yes

I have read about peoples CAS or ECU being the problem here, but those are both replacements I would like to avoid. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks for any help.

ALSO: anybody know of any yoke for the driveshaft that will fit an RP71C transmission?

If you don't have ecu power when cranking you used the wrong +12 I imagine.

Best of luck .

I doubt you can use the project car wiring, they used a r33 rb25, and you have an r32 rb20.

It doesn't sound like the ecu is getting power from the right source. Id find in the M30's fsm where it sends power to the stock ecu.

thanks for the input. And yes, going off of the magazine is diffucult because wires are different, were gona look it over tonight.

I never pay attention to transmission codes but if that's the rb20 5 speed its the same as a KA/SR/CA they all share the same yoke.

well we got the key position to ecu power problem fixed, swapped out 2 pins in the ecu they were backwards apparently. Heres the update on the loss of power.

We cut the power wire from the original placement of the ignition power relay (i believe) and tested other wires in the harness that maintain a constant 12v power during the crank. We found a wire that held the current and soldered them together. After the solder, we again attempted a start with yet another failed attempt. My buddy who is the brains behind the operation has found multiple blames toward the ECU being faulty. Since I am the 4th owner of this engine while comepletely disassembled, it would be to blame that the ECU could be at fault. The only problem is that i need this car to drive on tuesday and getting another ECU before then and finalizing this project isnt looking to good. Any thoughts or more help is again appreciated.
