I'm debating to buy a full rb20det motorset for $800 with a broken timing belt. I was reading on another site where WDracing said the valves never contact the piston on a rb20det( http://www.automotivehelper.com/topic9271.htm ), and then others saying it is a interference engine. Whats true?

Compression TESTLeakdown TEST

Take a wrench and spin the motor see if there's contact or blockage.

the RB20 is an interference motor. But like Brian said compression test and leak down the motor. But if it doesn't have a belt on it, don't go spinning the motor.

dang since it is a interference motor, might be cheaper to get another rb besides this one. could be minor or major damage with that one then :/

I have a spare set of valves if you end up buying that engine.
