Just before I parked my car for the winter last year, I noticed it had developed a hollow ticking/sucking sound past 4k or so when I was stepping on it. It does not seem to be RPM-related, it seems to revolve around heat. I only seem to notice it when its hot outside (30c) and its not consistent. Now that I have the car back on the road again its still making the same noise. Whenever it starts ticking like that under acceleration, I get a slight boost in power it seems, and as soon as it stops I can feel it lose some power. It almost sounds like a wire grounding out on metal or something, but I checked all around the engine bay and I couldnt find any frayed wires. The car doesnt sputter or run rich, it idles nicely at 900 rpm, its just up top.
I replaced the fuel filter, air filter, and removed my old crappy manual boost controller. After i did all that it went away for a couple weeks and it just came back today.
I did a search already, but no one seemed to have a problem quite like this one. I am going to check under the heat shield for lose nuts on the manifold once ive let the engine cool off a bit, any other suggestions?
Im quite stumped.
oh and btw, so far my only mods are Intake/exhaust/GT-R clutch, besides that im stock. The engine is also fresh, it was installed at autodream. Interestingly enough this ticking noise was present with the old engine aswell.
PS: my apologies for the long post, but I figured the more details I could give the better
