I was just wondering if anyone has tried putting a ka24 thermostat housing on an rb20 so that the lines would fit better and so that if you had a custom intake mani it wouldn't rub on the housing?

Cut are reweld the Thermostat housing so it clears, That is what Rips did for the intake manifold kit I got from them.

I would if i had the use of the things to do it with but don't so i'm looking for a decent alternative. Was the Rips kit pricey?

Yeah. I have an rb20det. I used a ka24de thermostat housing. What you do is cut your rb20det water neck in half, then cut your Ka24de water neck in half as well. The part of the rb water neck that bolts to the engine you're gonna use that since the opening in the engine block for the thermostat is larger than the opening in the ka block. Then you're gonna take the part of the ka water neck that the rad hose clamps to and weld that to the half of your rb water neck. You may have to grind or cut on an angle to get the water neck positioned here you want it. I would show you the way I did it but since its 18 degrees outside i'm not going out there with my camera to freeze to death. For my rad hoses i'm using two lower Ka hoses as my upper and lower hose. I used a lower ka hose as an upper hose because since I have an aftermarket intake manifold the water inlet was in a different position where a standard upper hose wouldnt fit without kinking the hose.
