i searched but came up empty handed. im test fitting all my stuff and came across a problem. the yoke wont fit all the way up into the transmission. it goes in easy up to this point and stops cold.

did i miss something? its a stock s13 5-speed driveshaft ive already removed the dust shield. i took out the rear seal to see if there were any obstructions but its fine all the in. WTF? also is the shifter supposed to sit that far back in relation to the original shifter location? sorry the pics are so huge!!!(edit) this driveshaft fits perfect in the stock transmission.

yea sorry about that, just in a hurry to get her done. still havent figured this out yet, but ill be under the car the rest of the day tryin to, lol. so if anyone has ANY ideas feel free to shoot them this way im stumped! it is the stock s13 5-speed driveshaft. like i said fits perfect in the stock transmission. is there a difference between the yoke on the abs/non-abs ? im not sure which one this is, but im pretty sure its non abs since my car doesnt have abs. if it helps i was using a stock de transmission on my sohc motor.

When I did mine it was snug right up into the trans. That was in my S13, in my S14 it's the same way. Maybe someone gave you the wrong drive shaft.

i have come to the realization that the transmission is NOT from a rb20 OR a kae/de. not sure what it is out of but im gonna look to see if i can find any numbers to give a clue as to the trans this is. i thought at first that it may have been a problem with the driveshaft but it turns out that this trans has an extremely short output shaft(well the splined section anyway). the splines are correct just too short for this yoke. anybody have a clue as to what this transmission could be out of? the engine swap came out of a 93 gtst skyline. the shifter sits about 1.5-2" back from the stock position so at first i thought ka transmission but the output shaft is wrong.

which x-member did you use? ... i hade mine with the mckinney mounts, and it was about 10mm closer to the gearbox than yours.

what mounting scheme are you using and where does the shifter sit...if you're using the r32 xmember that looks right.

with the r32 xmembers and rb20 trans in s13, if that big of a gap is normal... Does it present a problem with dirt and other crap getting in there and messing things up? Is there anything besides a custom D/S to make it better?

there is a seal for the driveshaft to prevent oil from leaking out as well as to keep dirt and such out of the way...custom driveshaft is the only way to make the driveshaft seat fully.

well that presents a problem all its then. if it doesnt seat how does the carrier bearing line up? in my case the carrier bearing also sits about 2" back and the driveshaft will not fit. the reason i say it isnt rb20 or ka is the fact that everything is pushed back 2" . if it would go all the way in the ds would work. i know that i have the right ds cuz it came out of my 5-speed car when i started the swap. how possible is it to maybe cut off the excess on the yoke ? im willing to try it but im not sure how safe that would be. obviously whatever ds was in it had a shorter yoke so that might be a low-cost solution. any thoughts?(edit) im using the r32 x-member and mounts.
