Nice job! Now you need to post a video with sound...

I have two questions. 1) what kind of electric fan did you use (size and brand) and 2) can you post pics showing how your shifter sits right where it should?

Thanks,Shane

did you switch the R32 and s13 steering rack so that the downpipe would not hit? Thanks

The R32 steering rack would put the steering wheel on the RT side of the car....

Very nice. I am almost finished with my RB25DET swap into a red S13. Glad to see my side mount ended up the same direction as yours. I found that to be the worst part of the swap.

The steering rack was swapped because we just used the skylines crossmember. The steering column did hit the downpipe and the downpipe had to be modified. (cut and welded a notch in the side) It only cost $25 from some dude in town to weld the cast iron.

Yeah I wouldnt even do an engine swap unless i did it ,of course with the help of friends ;) , driving the car around with the new engine is TOTALLY WORTH the month of work.

I reccomend RB swaps to all!

frosted flakes, what kind of intake did you use? Is that an Apexi Power Intake for Z32? And how does it fit under your hood? Looks pretty close in your pics.

Intake fits pretty good under the hood, it doesnt hit anything. It not an Apexi Power Intake (I wish) Just some cheap cone filter I bought at Autozone :) Some of the hoods bracing had to be cut because I didnt use McKinney motor mounts. The skylines motor mounts WILL work, you just have to cut some of the bracing for the intercooler piping, throttle body, and some other areas. There was a total of 4 places that needed to be cut for it to fit without hitting the hood. Now it fits perfectly!

frosted flakes.... you said the steering column hit the downpipe. So the column bumps into the second piece of cast iron pipe, not the first elbow coming off of the turbo, right?

Just trying to clarify whether or not the first cast iron piece (with the O2 sensor) need modification or if just the second longer cast iron pipe needs modification.

Could you post a pic?

Thanks,Shane

Its actually the first piece that comes off the turbo. It is the cast iron turbo dump pipe (sorry for the mis-clarification). Yes this piece needed to be modified. It had to be cut and we got some person who could weld cast iron to weld a grooved plate in it then ground it out smooth. It works perfect now.

I cant really get a picture of it because its already installed in the car. it would be a pain in the arse to take it back out. sorry.

Ah.... Ok, so I'm back to looking for someplace that sells turbine outlet flanges for this turbo. I keep finding T3 flanges that have 5 bolts, but I thought I saw 6 bolts on mine???

I am a bit leery of welding cast iron without preheating the whole piece to cherry red in an oven. My oven won't go that hot... maybe I can microwave it.

I was wrong about the O2 housing. I just read on 2 forums that the Nissan turbine outlet elbows are cast STEEL, not cast iron.

Ok, so it's safe to weld up some aluminized 14 or 16 gauge 2.5" steel pipe going right back to the catback exhaust in one piece, right? So I will cut the flanges off and make my own piping between them.

Yes this has 6 bolts to the flange. Im not sure if its cast iron or cast steel but yes there is a special way to weld it. Its gotta cool down VERY slowly or else it will crack. You need a sand bath for this. I just took mine to a welding shop i guess they knew how to handle this kind of material. It would be optimal to create a single piece pipe that goes from the turbo dump pipe to the catback. This is probably the fastest way for exhaust gasses to flow out. This is probably what i will do next since right now mine is just hooked up to my stock exhaust system (it is sooo quiet all i can hear is the TURBO and BOV)

Well, ok, I'm going to take a chisel to it and find out for sure what it is.

I just finished up my RB25 instal as well. I used the stock exhaust, and it is just plain wrong to continue to use it. I own two RX7's(one TII and one convert) and my wife has a Sunfire. If it wasn't for the BOV, the 240 would be the quiest car I own. I am thinking about the Apexi N1 Dual, what about you?
