I'm trying to get my rb20 s13 running correctly because it has a high idle, around 2000. I have a feeling that since my stock blow off valve isn't recirculated that it is causing this high idle. And I'm not sure if the little vacuum port under the throttle body being open at the moment is causing it as well. I just replaced my water pump and all timing components and just recently got it running. Now it would be nice to figure out the idle thing so I can drive this beast!

If you have your stock recirc valve vented to the atmosphere that is your issue, a friend of mine did this and his car ran fine just wouldnt idle properly.

If you are aware of vacuum leaks, fix those first. That open port on the throttle body will cause it to idle at 2k rpm. Fix that and let us know what the result is.

Alright, I read that the port under the throttle body went to the charcoal canister which means i can just block it off right?

Yes, just capped it off. And if you're not recirculating your bov, make sure you cap off the recirculated tube so no unmetered air is used.

Do you mean the tube coming off the bov?

Yeah, the one that leads from the bov to the turbo; cap it off.

stock bpv is designed to be recirc'ed, if you do not recirc it the car will never run right.
they are designed to leak boost pressure and if you keep it open it will be laggy and down on power.

Will a Greddy type S or RS line up to the stock bov location?

Turbo xs makes an adapter to bolt an RFL right onto the stock location.

rfl sucks, they leak and are obnoxiously loud.
personally i would just rock the stock diverter, properly prepped they will hold 30psi.

If you need a stock / GReddy style flange, LMK.
I have one that was made of CNC'd alumnium. All it will cost you is shipping.

I thought we established that the compressor wheels were metal, and all the exhaust wheels were ceramic on RB's, except the neos which had a nylon compressor?

My friend is building a KA-T setup and he says hes not running a BOV because a lot of drifters (like PBM guys etc etc) don't run any and they are fine.

The CA18DET didn't have a BOV, and 90% of their turbos are blown. I think my friends had 1/4in of shaft play, and the compressor and turbine were all chewed up.

Yeah, you need a BOV.

Unless you are running a heavy duty diesel turbo then you can just let it surge and it wont hurt it.
