coil packs should see 12vdc switched and ground and ecu pulse signal from the ecu. start at the ecu and probe to see what comes out. then move to the coil igniter chip on the other side to see what you get before the coil packs. after that check to make sure all your sensors are hooked up.

It might not be something all that bad..It could be just a fuse so you could check all those out..

Something like that happened to a Nissan Almera. The pump was good, the MAF was good and when we did some checking it turned out to be just a fuse..

Another thing that was happening with my RB was with the ECU..The engine would tumble but it would not start i sounded like a fuel problem but it turned out to be the ECU..so if you have a friend with a ECU you could check that as well..

I've been trying to figure out the problem with my s13/ rb20 swop for the past 2 months. I really need advice on to what the problem could be, but I drove up to the mall one day and it was like someone went over and shut off the key. Car dies and all it would do was turn over. I checked spark and fuel, yes. Coilpacks tested good, and I even replaced the (CAM) Camshaft Positioning sensor. So I was looking through more things on the car when I found the power transistor unit hanging off the back of the motor. Also called the ignition module maybe. I started messing with it and I pressed it against sertainly parts of the block and it would start. I don't have the bracket to bolt it down but I'm thinking thats the problem. PTU has to be grounded??? Give me a shout out please!

yes the transistor unit should be grounded, if not do the block then with a lead wire to the block.

Well the thing about it is the car was running fine and I pulled into the mall one day and it was like someone reached and shut the key off. Then all it would do is just turn over. And the power transistor was never grounded. It was just pushed to the back of the block. And I need the bracket that you bolt with it to bolt on the motor. I just can't think of another reason for why the car isn't firing. Any ideas?? If so let me know please!

I checked for spark, coils aren't bad. And I even changed out the camshaft positioning sensor with a new one. The car ran fine and then just died in a parking lot. I checked fuses, relays and everything. I had 2 power transistors and tried both of them on the car. Of course I had the whole module pressed against the block when I tried starting it. Still nothing.. I would almost pay someone to come down here and help me get this b**** running right cause I know it has to be simple!

Alright I'll try that. I just thought It would've been the power transistor cause when you slap it on top of the motor on the valve cover it will try harder to start. But when it's not grounding right you know cause it won't turn over. I need to figure out where all my grounds are.
