Ok I finally put my rb25 into my s13. go me. but since the transmission is rb20 the transmission mount from mckinney that I got for an rb25 does not work the hole are OFF. well so anyways I used the stock bracket and it lined up pretty well. got 2 bolts in . so now I go to put a shifter in (I bought from a nico guy) for an rb20det. well the plastic fitting on the end is TOO big for the hole inside the transmission. few posibilities what do you think.

a. He sent me an rb25det shifterb. It is a rb20de trannyc. i'm being an idiot someone please help

Well first off you are going to want more than the 2 holes to bolt the transmission too. You have a lot of power going through there it is not wise to have the wrong transmission mount it will be much weaker. I would advise getting a bracket from a RB20 mount kit. Even see if Mickinney will trade you so that you can bolt it up. Since it is the RB20 transmission the trans crossmember from a RB20 kit should work fine for all 4 holes.

The shifter problem I dont really understand. To the best of my knowledge the shifters are basically universal between the RBs/SRs/KAs so I don't know how it doesnt fit. If you have a major issue throw the KA shifter in there and it will work fine and will actually be shorter. I am using the RB20 shifter in my car because at the time of my swap I didn't know it was universal and now I have the throw of a truck. That shifter is 8ft long. As far as shortshifters go people buy SR ones and KA ones to put in RBs all the time. Hope I was a help. I don't know if you have the right shifter at all.~ANDREW~

If you think that 2 bolts is sufficient to hold your trans in place than I would say "c" is the appropriate answer.

Ok Ok fine i will get all 4 bolt to line up. I'll give Mckinney a call. and I was talking to the guy I bought my shifter from he sent me his rb25 shifter even though I said RB20 in every e-mail to him.

all the shifters I see for KA and SR say for rb20 NON-turbo ONLY!!! and I even asked one gu and he said that turbo's had a different shifter. I never had a ka 5 speed so I dont have a shifter to try. If anyone can be positive a KA/SR shifter will work in an RB20DET as in trbo. PLease tell me.

P.s. I knew I shouldn;t have put C on there.

if you have a junkyard around, you can find a ka shifter pretty easy. Don't forget to take snap wring pliers to get the retaining ring off. Good luck!

Send the bushing back to me and i'll send you my KA one. That should be the same. KA RB and SR are all the same just the bushings at the bottom are different. I'll cover shipping charges just make sure you get the KA one back to me. Thanx.-Alex
