THE Z CAR CROSSMEMBER IS WAY DIFFERENT FROM THE 240SXS. TO GET THE ENGINE TO FIT RIGHT YOU NEED A REAR SUMP AS OPPOSED TO THE FRONT SUMP STOCK ON THE ENGINES.

I don't need/want a RB25 oil pan. I need a RB20det rear sump oil pan that came stock in the Z31 200zr Fairlady Z car with the RB20det motor....

I have a cad file of the oil pan flange, so it looks like I will end up having to make myself a Alum pan if I can't get the Z31 pan...

thanksjoel

WHAT MOUNTS ARE YOU USING?

I MAYBE PICKING UP A '72 240Z FOR $600..... IF I DO I'M SCRAPING THE S13 PROJECT AND GOING ALL OUT WITH THE 240Z. I WOULD KEEP THE RB20 FOR THE 240Z BUT I NEED TO KNOW WHAT MOUNTS YOU ARE USING FOR YOUR SWAP.

Brad D on Hybridz.org sells the RB Z mounts for $100! Can't beat that. As far as a RB Datsun Z swap, the nice thing about the rb20 and rb25 is that, with the 200zr sump and Brad D's mounts (or 200zr mounts work, not ideal for handling), the engine bolts in and no further modification is required. Modifying the 200zr sump is only necessary on the Rb26. That's one of the reasons I seriously considered a rb20/25 because it's just too damn easy to get the drivetrain bolted in. The only thing custom you have to do is the transmission mount, but I've got that figured out and it really isn't hard. Just some minor cutting and welding on the existing Datsun transmission crossmember. Then get a custom driveshaft (you can use the front half of a z32 driveshaft) and your drivetrain is all taken care of. After that you just have to do intake/exhaust/coolant plumbing and wiring and you are about 99% done (still need aftermarket gauges and a few other things). It's not exactly as simple as a CA/SR s13 swap, however I'm surprised there aren't tons more people with RB Z's in the US considering how easily it can be done. Considering how cheap Rb20's are, you could swap one into a Z for under $5k, with mods, if you do everything yourself. I'd still like to build an rb20 240z in the future for a more casual daily driver than my current one will be.

I'm SORRY Mack, after re reading my first post, I really didn't mean to say "I don't belive that". I should have said " It's hard to belive they are that hard to get"

I don't mean to say your not being truthful....
