I'm in the same trouble, I wish I could buy many things OEM, but they are so fricken expensive!!

2 days ago, I found this : (Thanks God for the Holy search button!!)zer...-info

Basically, It says, the VG20 piston rings MAY FIT the RB20 pistons. For about 150-160 bucks!.

BTW, anyone has bought parts from http://www.nismoparts.com? They have good prices (i.e., RB water pump 70 + shipping)

I bought my stuff from nismoparts. Call your order in that way you can make sure they have it in stock, cuz if not you will be waiting for parts which is really annoying

I have a set of rings originally designed for the Nissan 2.0L 1998cc VG20E engine that seems to also be a match for the RB20DET----78mm 1.5, 1.5, 2.8 3 pc oil assembly---the set with a cast iron top ring is set # 6240 and is $132.14 + shipping, or we also have a set with a chrome top ring -part # 2C6240 and is $176.43 + shipping. Each set is for the full 6 cylinders and shipping is $7.50 for UPS Ground - but if you need next day air we can provide that as well, customer pays shipping charges in all cases. Now -- before purchasing-- I would be sure to verify the groove depths to ensure that the rings are not too deep ---the top groove needs to be at least .126 deep, the 2nd groove needs to be at least .155 deep and the oil groove needs to be at least .125 deep to ensure proper fit. We do carry each set and try to have stock at all times, and I show we have stock on both sets. Also- for your information--we carry each set in STD, and 010, .020, .030 and .040 oversizes. To place an order call 1-800-776-1088 #2. If you have any other questions, feel free to contact me again anytime!Thank You for choosing Hastings---have a great day!

That was an email i recieved from hastings

They are brand new never opened the plastic wrap around them. I don't really have anything that I'm looking for so a trade is probably not an option...email me if you are interested .

so do the piston rings that hasting mfg sell really fit good to the std. bore of the cyl. and the piston fitment of the rb20det and do they have the option of up grades in different piston material for higher boost aplications

I used the cromoly piston rings from hastings. I used the standard bore. So far no issues. Perfect compression across all six. As far as upgrading the rings you may want to call hastings.

I purchase 2 sets of piston rings for my RB20DET from www saxajdm.com. Price is very low compared to other vendors. Piston rings made by RIK Japan so very good quality as well.
