Ok i have had my rb for almost a year now, and has ran good since day 1 until late July. I was driving and came to a stop, i took off and shifted into third as soon as i got back on the gas i heard a loud backfire and lots of black smoke, i tried the gas again same effect less smoke. I pulled over and cut the car off looked around checked the motor, nothing i could see was wrong and i figured it had jumped time, well i get it home redo the timing and still nothing, i took it to a shop and he checked the timing, he then tested to see if it was getting fire. He showed me That it is only sparking once during turn over. I have done lots of research to find that alot of ppl are having the same problem and was wantng to see what u all would suggest as i need it fixed for the drag season, I am thinking ignitor maybe but i would like to hear ur oppinions.

I think I'm having the exact same issue. I've tested almost everything and everything seems to be fine (as far as voltages, continuity, etc.). Basically, when the key hits the on position, I get one spark, then nothing while cranking. Mine was working fine until I pulled my harness to fix a few connections.

After putting it back in, I got it running, drove it about 20 miles and it died. I haven't been able to get it started since. The only thing I can think of is the igniter, but i have a q45 igniter that I had picked up a while back and never tested and when I compared resistance tests with the z32 igniter (that I'm running) they looked the same, so it's highly improbable that both just happen to be bad.

Either way, if you figure something out, let me know, and I will do the same if I figure it out first.

Thanks,Gary

I figured my issue out...turned out to be that the plug on my cas was not clipped. Turns out my alternator is also pretty much shot, which compounded the issue because of extremely low voltage.
