We modify ours, done 7 of them now, no problems with welding to the cast. I will try and get some pics, the wg goes on the rear bank of the mnaifold, easy access too.

my camera is being gay, but i just took a piece of stainless steel and welded a t4 flange on it as well as the wastegate flange. the extension/adamper is only about 2 inches long and i dont have any clearance issues

I modified my exhaust manifold on my motor. I've posted a few pics of it. The top of the manifold was machined out, and we tig welded the wastegate flange on it.

Here it is in the car.

How hard is it to do this, can a machine shop do this?

What does the wastegate flange need to be made out of to be welded to cast...would it be just mild steel? Sorry that might be a dumb question.~ANDREW~

just wanted to bring this back up bc i had a few questions.

im going to modify my stock manifold and use a t4 flange hoping to run a gt30 or a little larger turbo and external gate....

is there any particular placement that the wastegate should be? in between certain runners? should i weld it right to the cast manifold or should i use a 45 degree elbow or something?

next question is: should i use a 40mm wastegate or a 38mm wastegate? any special reason for one or the other? id prefer to run a 38 just because of the size....

last question: i have a mig welder that ill be using, will that work alright?

thanks guys

I've heard cast will weld just fine if you use nickel.
