Hello,

I am deciding on whether to set my goal for rb20det with stock turbo but highly modified or just get another turbo. My goal is 400WHP. What do you guys think?

What is the max HP i can get out of an rb20det stock turbo? What kind of turbo is this?

What kind of HP can i get from a t04e or t04b turbo? I have an oppurtunity to get this turbo from a friend for $150.

I am still debating on whether to upgrade my turbo or stick with it.

Thanks

Tony

Firstly, 400WHP is a lofty goal. Secondly, you'll probly never get there with the stock turbo. Also, it's hard to say about those compressor selections because there's no spec's on them. And you might wanna learn a bit about what spec's are best for the 20 and what boost you're looking at before you go jumping into buying a possibly horrible matchup for your engine.I'm sure some of the more experineced guys here can shed some light on what turbos would be a nice choice for what you're aiming for...

oh yeah the reason i am needing the mods is cuz upping the boost isnt helping..i boost it up to 13psi and at higher rpms (4-8K) the boost goes back to 10psi. I am assuming because my turbo cant pump out enough CFM's to support the same amount of boost....so i dont know whether to get another turbo or do more exhaust/tuning mods to make it flow better....what do you guys think?

Bigger exhaust would help that.

Wow, 3" all the way back, eh? Bigger wouldn't really help then. Nevermind on my previous post. :) I'm personally looking at a T3/TO4E 50 trim with the .48 a/r. For your purposes, I think the .63 would suit the task better.

Ditch the Stock turbo and injectors and MAF. I am goin with a SC61 Turbo on my 20 (it came today but I got off work too late and missed the UPS guy) I plan on running the MicroTech if I can get of my rear and go do my taxes lol. 2 more 660 denso injectors and a good road tune with my wideband should yeild some great times as I blow my motor up lol. Yeah Yeah thats a big turbo I'll let you guys know how the lag is after I get it installed on the car. . . . sometime soon I hope.

Ohh yeah isn't the RB20 8.5:1 compratio? or is it 8.8:1? what ever it's low enough for more boost.

What are the specs on that turbo yellow?

There is no way you will make 400rwhp on the stocker frosted... unless you decided to run two. I will let you know how my VG30 turbo does on mine...

I'm aiming for high 300rw #'s when I eventually run a GT25R... I got the VG for now b/c the price was right and Hybrid needed my old stocker.

the SC61 is a great turbo, it shouldn't lag too much on the rb20

i am not planning 400RWHP with the stock turbo because i know that it cant handle that. I plan for atleast 250-270WHP with the stock turbo.

How much HP can the rb25det turbo handle? Also does the rb25det turbo bolt right in?

Thanks again,

Tony

I got it from Nismo Driver on SR20 forum I think I got a good deal shipped :D Got it today from the UPS guy. It would fit on the stock manifold just needs to shave off a part of the manifold where the heat shield screws down. BUT! To put a waste gate on you would have to HACK the crap out of the stock collector with out a extender box. But a Internal gated T3/T4E would fit on the stock manifold with that lil mod to the manifold.
