Anyone running this. I ask because I want to know if you converted to Map or keep the maf? Also can you still use the same trigger wheel that is on the escort. That he uses in the zerothread/164446Though I really need to look for more info as this is a set up for a 4cyc and I would need to be able to control 6. I'm interested in doing the Mega Squirt because I prefer map over maf setups I also would love to get into stand alone systems. I'm just wanting to know if anyone was able to get the setup running and what they used.

I did a search on Rb20det mega squirt and nothing came up.

The megasquirt utilizes a map sensor, up to 4 bar as an option. The Ford EDIS is one way of controlling the MS, it is available in a 4/6/8 configuration. It uses a 36-1 wheel they are all the same and are easy to find on Ebay. The MS doesn't care if it's an RB or VQ or a CA. Just squirt it!

What ford car has EDIS in 6cyc setup? Because the write up the guy did on the swap for the CA18det should be able to help me do it on a Rb20det. THey are almost the same engine with out 2 cyc lol.

I would be interested in tackling this task.

So any help would be great.

Search around on the M/S site, there is ton of info there, and plenty of help.

Your stock ECU is more capable then any megasquirt. If you go standalone don't cheap out get Haltech.

Will do, Thank you for the info.

As for the stock ECU. I know it would work fine. I'm just kinda intrested in swapping to a Map setup. I might do it when i first get my engine but I would like to some day.

Not to mention I would love to be able to learn how to use the Mega Squirt I know it can be pretty reliable once you know what your doing with it.

I'm kinda thinking of building a N/A Rb as a little toy project after i get my Det running this summer coming up.

Wow that's profound; you have documented incidences that show the STOCK ecu to be superior to a lowly home built (yet HIGHLY optional) stand alone? Have much personal experience with the M/S, or are those statements pure conjecture?

I believe his statement is a conjecture.. the nissan ecu from the time it came out and you wre able to chip it was the best ecu out there.. you had a 16x16 grid area where you can fine tune your vehicle controlling fuel and ignition timing.. is it better than a megasquirt..can't say it is don't have much expirience with it. but it sounds like you want to run MS just to get rid of the maf and use a map set up.. There have been debates to determine wich is better map or maf. To get a better mixture a maf set up is better because you have an exact amount of air being put into the engine as opose to a map that reads pressure, remember thou 10psi on a 2" pipe is not the same volume as 3" pipe. Anyone is more than welcome to interject but we're getting off the subject. MS on an RB20 should work with the trigger wheel no problems make sure you have the correct timing on the tune and also that the MS is installed correctly. LIke Uber said MS doesn't care about who makes the engine just if it's a 4,6 or 8. You are going to need the trigger wheel last I heard MS does not support the nissan CAS and you need something to determine timing.

Well if you can modify it a stock ecu can do everything a MS can including running map setup without all the hassle of wiring in harnesses and making stuff from other cars work.

Also the stock ecu has knock readout which will put the car in safe mode thus saving your engine in the ocurance of detonation.

Most ppl are intimidated by the stock ecu because a standalone has all the baby steps put in to make tunning easier.Like I said for modest power ie. 350whp or so I say stock tuned ecu is the best option and then if you are gonna go bigger Haltech is the way to go.
