Hey, have been looking around to see if anyone has done this. I am building a RB24DET and want a transmission that will actually be able to handle the power the engine will put out. I'm thinking the Z32 trans as it is much more readily available that a RB25 trans. What does everyone think?

Good idea. It has been done plenty. Your driveshaft will need some modifications and so will your speedometer, but you can pay $250 ish for the Z32 trans or 1k+ for an Rb25.

Don't forget the bellhousing(By bellhousing I mean front half of the transmission) needs to be swapped over as well.

I'm doing a full build so it will be getting a new one piece driveshaft anyways. Which bellhousing do I have to use to bolt it right up? I didnt think the RB20 tran's bellhousing would bolt up to the Z32 trans

Will the RB25 bellhousing bolt right up or will there have to be modifications done to it?

It bolts up.

The only problem is the shifter will be placed....front or back, I cant remember. My friend has this setup and i think his is back a little. And he got a shifter relocation bracket from xcessive motorsports.

But you save so much money and you can always get another z32 trans and drop it in any time.

Wait, so in order to use a z32 transmission on an rb20, you have to use either an rb25 or ka24 bellhousing?
I assume this is the same for an rb25?

I was being a bit sarcastic, Z32 trans and RB25 or rb26 bellhousings will work on any RB. But the shifter will be set further back is all, even with a relocation bracket.
