hello,I bought a rb20det maf (HCR32) to install my ca18det. because my afm is not working.I know I have to remap the ecu. I download the romedit program. And I have changed the VQmap values to rb20det maf, it was recorded in the program so I just click it. And I put the recorded bin into my ecu. with an eprom.I connected the maf correctly. from the wiring diagram I found on web. But it doesnt work. Car is not reving higher than 2100rpm, and works like no afm connected.Where do I wrong? Is the problem about my eprom? or anything else? Sorry for my bad english.Thx for your help..

Hey

When ca only revs to 2100 rpm, yes it thinks there is no afm connected.Have you checked the ECU error codes to confirm the ecu thinks there is no Afm?

If u didn't burn the chip right the car wouldn't have started.

Im guessing you wired the afm wrong.

If you wired it correctly and dident change the rom (left it stock) the car would rev over 2k it would just run rich/lean given the new afm reading over the standard one.

I would suggest re wiring the afm.

Christian.

thanks for your support christian.

I try to connect it likeca18det : black/white 12V , black/green signal, green/yellow empty , black ground.rb20 : black/white 12V, white and black ground, black/grey signal,

when it doesnt work I try the rb20 white to chasis, black - black, it doesnt work too.

and I hear smt. about K values? are you sure about rb20 maf would work witch stcok ecu? ( about reving 2100 )

Hey

i put after market injectors and a rb afm in my car, started it and it ran. it ran really rich but i was able to drive it down the street and watch the fuel come out the exhaust (yeah im a dodgy mechanic).

No idea about the colour of the ca wires, i did note them down before i did the change.

Pinout for the RB20/AFM is:

Pin A - nothing, so this is not needed.Pin B - air flow signal Out, so this would go to your black/green.Pin C - ground, this one i put to the ca groundPin D - ground, this one i grounded to chassis.Pin E - +12v power, this one to ca power.Pin F - nothing, no where.

These start from the front (air in) of the AFM, and pins A or F can be missing (RB20/25s generally won't have pin F at all).

Check the ecu, see what she says.if u have a multi, make sure the afm is giving out correct voltagesi believe at idle its close to a volt or just over.

Hey

yeah cars drive me crazy to.

55 - all ok, doesn't seem right for a car acting like afm issue.was this done while the car was running? (cause it should be done when running)

is it overfueling allot, can you see black smoke from the exhaust?

what i would do.~ check all wiring is 100%

~ clean afm + contacts with contact cleaner.

~ use multimeter to test afm signal.

~ use multimeter to test afm signal wire to ecu.

~ put the standard rom back in, and test start then test error codes.

see how you goChristian

K Value Current AFM = 190Current AFM K required number = 183New AFM = 310New AFM K required number = ???

So.. you gotto work it out… bit like this.. (just use windows calculator and when open, click View and select Scientific)

190 / 310 = 0.612903

Then get the base number of 183 divided by the above.. soo.. 183 / 0.612903 = 298.579057Then click on the Hex option in the calculator while that answer is still in it.. and I have the value 12A.

The Rom Editor program likes this entered in as 4 digits.. so the new value to put in there is 012A (zero, one, two, A)

try in there, there'll prolly be some info you'd like.

i think from memory PulsarGTR did a webpage with heaps of bins and tunes, http://ca18det.escic.com/ try that one too, that has bin files on hand.

thx for the reply,I make a post at ecu2.forumwiseI connected the maf correctly car is reving than 2100 no problem.I make a .bin file with live edit , which makes the vqmap k value afmmax values automatic. but my car is working very lean. I cant find the problem.
