For the most part my engine runs pretty well. However, it will cut out from time to time. Feels like a complete loss of spark for about a second or two then picks back up again. Seems like this only happens when the engine is still cold. Every once in awhile the spark won't pick back up and it just dies. When this happens the engine will not crank as well.

Another is that the other day when the engine was still cold it would not let me give much throttle once it would build boost. It felt very similar to a rev limiter that retards timing, however if I backed back down to say a quarter throttle it would continue to climb through the upper RPM's. this also felt like a spark issue.

Lastly, the engine doesn't generally just fire right up, it kind of sputters to life. It may be possible that all three of these are related. I still need to research how spark and ignition are run on this engine. Any help would be much appreciated.

Cold start needs to be hooked up. It lets the ecu know the key is on and the car is ready to start. Check for boost leaks, check the codes on the ecu.

Also check the OHM readings on the TPS (Throttle Position Sensor). Extremely notorious for RB engines.

when you say cold start needs to be hooked up does that mean that theres supposed to be a cold start valve or a 7th injector or something. I dont have a boost leak tester yet but theres nothing thats obvious to me and I'll be checking the codes very soon.

What's the spec for the ohm reading?

I can't remember but it's on the dash harness plug on the S13. You need to take it to the RB20 ecu. This will let the ecu you know the key is on and the car is trying to start up.
