so this is my first post but i have about 50 tabs up on my computer with several different issues so ive searched.
for the story, its a 1990 s13 240sx with rb20det
first night i got it, i started it up and just seemed a little funny. looked it over and coil plug 1 is a funky looking plug so i knew i needed a new one. got the new ignition coil in and it would start up and shut right off. i was like wtf it ran on 5 cylinders but not 6? so i unplugged the MAF or AFM whatever you want to call it. it ran without that so after checking that out for about a minute the coil plug in cyclinder 1 is smoking, i unplugged it, it was very very hot! pulled the harness off and rewired it because whoever wired that weird coil before put on a weird coil plug. tried it again. it started getting really hot again. so i ripped investigated the harness more and saw that the 3 wire plug that links up with next to the external ignitor is (power/ground/some other wire) well that some other wire goes only to coil 1? well im assuming thats how it goes because it looked OEM. poked around with the multimeter and other plugs were getting 12v between 2 wires and like 1v between the other 2 but on the first coil plug it gets 12v between all 3 wires. i checked the FSM and cant find how that 2nd plug with the ignitor is wired. ill worry about the maf and running issue after i can figure this out. any help appreciated. also it will do a little backfire when it dies and poofs out the injector plugs, are they suppose to wiggle around or is that causing a big vacuum leak? my rx7 injectors have to be sealed tight or is sprays gas. these wiggle but do not spray gas.
