RB20DET into 95 240?

Just had a question about the swap since most of the info is for s13 or rb25det. If you buy a rb20det front clip what kind of mods do you have to do to get it in the s14. People have talked about getting a mounting kit, cutting the firewall, banging on it etc. Im just really confused on what is required with all these different comment. just looking for comments from people who have done the swap. Any basic info of swapping using a front clip would be great what install work is requiered, relocation of battery, a/c etc. Dont worry about the basic stuff covered in other posts like fuel pump, oil pump, clutch, etc. Just want to know about the actual swap not so much the parts.

Can you close the hood or do you have to modify it? Just any mods that had to be done beside buying parts.

What's needed is covered fairly well in the stickies at the top man. No cutting or banging of the firewall is necessary for the 20. All of the answers you're looking for can easily be found in there.

Mckinney mounts or R32 crossmember. I used the crossmember and the motor sits a little high. If i knew what I know now, i would have gone with the mckinney mounts. The only problem I had was clearance of the stock dump pipe and the steering shaft. You can either shave down the cast manifold, or have a custom one made. Change your waterpump and timing belt before installing the motor.

also, you may want to send your gauge cluster to LS Auto, they can make your factory tachometer read the new signal so your factory tach reads correctly. I think i only payed 90 bucks.

Are Rb engines illegal to use as daily drivers or is that just a cali thing

techinicaly any engine that did not come in the car is an illegal swap...but most states dont check under the hood where cali does.

ohh my young noob brother! You need to do alot of research about this swap before you even decide to buy. The stickies helped me out plenty as well as the members here. Read plenty before u buy anything.
