Decided to not go the route of 2jz or rb26 and just rebuild my rb20- can't really part with it :frown:
but finding a variety of brands for internals is like pulling teeth, so far for rods all I've found is Spool- which looks to be like eagle..?
For pistons all I found are the Cp/Supertechs which I have no experience with.

Do Larger companies like tomei/hks Make internals upon request?
Thanks !

Any reviews on internals or suggestions - always appreciated :)

just long block it, cheaper and will hold up to whatever power you want to make...
trust me, been there done that.

long block, from whom and why?
Whats the pro vs cons?
I really like building motors so I am looking forward to having a choice of internals and putting them in myself.

Fak didn't notice you already know about spooling. If your looking for head stuff Tomei sells all that stuff, 270 cams, valve springs, headgasket. Arp has head studs for the RB20. Are you looking to do 40psi? or just shooting for 400whp? if it's just 400whp stock block will take it.

because a 600$ long block is much cheaper than on that has 4.5k$ worth of parts/labour into it.

again trust me, been there done that...unless you're going for over 400-450hp, there is no point to it unless you like spending money.

it is cheaper to move to a larger displacement motor than it is to forge a 20's bottom end and you're still left with the 2l capacity.

ya my goal is a reliable 400 rwhp , and ya my budget is around 4-5k for good internals( that includes machining, head etc etc )
where did you price out the long block ?
and the 2l displacement, ya thats a little bit of a drawback but im happy with it

@yellow how do you find the spool rods, any experience or reviews? I noticed a few good cars run them, and they are pretty popular in aus

Black I stumbled onto them one day when I was searching for rods for the RB20. At the time I wanted to start building my RB20. They look like the eagle rods to me which I have seen take a 729awhp hit in a 2g DSM.

Black save your money and buy a long block from a importer. I thought about doing what you wanted to do but it was going to cost alot. Doing head work was the major thing in my book since it's whats going to make the power. Then I said F this yestertech and Bought parts to start building a rwd VVL.

We have SPOOL, Supertech, and CP for the RB20:

Everything else outside of that will be custom. You won't need anything more than those listed to achieve your goals with that engine. If needing to switch to a larger displacement motor... we can do that ;)

Actually I might take carl's advice and look into your longblocks
