I picked up an extra upper intake plenum off of EBAY. Cost me very little... and mostly I wanted the AAC unit that was still attached, so it was worth the money I spent on it.

I have been wondering about modifying it? Obviously my goal is to run the IC piping off the passenger side of the car to an FMIC without having to cross over the engine.

I am just curious if you all have ideas on being able to rework it a bit.

Can the existing hole be welded over and pluged up?Can a new hole be opened on the front side of it? If a new hole was opened, would it still flow air to the back cylanders? What if you flipped the thing over...? used the existing cylander ports but just turned backwards.. then the intake opening would point at the wheel.

Just trying to think outside the box a bit. I like the new plenum DIY kits, but I don't know how to do any of that work, and it sounds like that would get REALLY expensive in a shop to do all the fab work.

Thanks

Yes it can be done and has been done exactly the way you describe. There was a big discussion about the leaning out cylinders either in the front or the rear(can't remember) on http://www.skylinesdownunder.com .

http://www.skylinesdownunder.c...ifoldhere is another.

I couldn't find the thread where the person who originally created this mod was comparing the pros and cons. As for leaning the cylinders the originator said the manifold was only good for X amount of hp before it would create problems. Search.

I would ditch the upper plenum and build a new one to bolt onto the OE lower.

I would worry about messing up the flow design.

Yeah.. messing up the airflow is my biggest concern.

As a result of the links posted by a few guys above, I have gotten in contact with someone who may use my car as a gineau pig for creating a new intake manifold to sell to the public.

I might even get the chance to use my business (which is soon to be up and running) to market the product.

I am sure it will take a few months, but I will update everybody on the process.

Thanks for all the responses. Eikon

There's also always the GReddy style one for the RB20 from TopHat. I know the site is down but the guy has another business and is readily available. JayPat83 knows him and can get in contact with him any time apparently...

Good luck with it and let us know how it turns out.
