Is this a bad idea? It is a silver top with the ECCS. The gauge cluster looks like ancient technology. Anyway, just curious if I would rather have an RB20det from a Skyline. Thanks.

r32 skyline rb20det is rated at 215hp, a31 cefiro at 205hp and they don't have a bov, not much difference really. most cefiros are auto. i would expect the gauge cluster to look similar in age to s13.

Cefiro's power is down due to a lower factory boost setting. The computers for the two cars are different, so any computer mods would half to be for the Cefiro (different pinouts). I was about to order a A31 (cefiro) clip until I found my car. It was a 5spd clip, but that is not very easy to find. I am sure you could pick up a rb20 5spd trans for very little money though.

I would love for someone to pick one of these up so I can finally have the A31 x-member question answered. The A31 Cefiro is said to be a hybrid between the S13 and the R32. I have heard the x-member puts the motor in the right position without needing to cut the hood skeleton, but I've never been able to find proof of this theory.

mcKinney used to have some Cefiro A31 x-members. Might want to hit them up and see if they still have any.

I have a C33 Laurel which is built identical inside and out to a A31 Cefiro. I have much experience working on both these cars and skylines too. Skylines engines are the same as Cefiro engines and they use the same ECU and wiring. The only differences is the wiring to the dash from the ecu have different plugs and Cefiro and Laurel engines don't have bov. Some older Cefiro and Laurels like 89-91 models have older type motors with older type wiring and sensors are not interchangeable with the newer type RB20DET engines. Very few Cefiro and Laurels came stock with manual transmissions. The crossmember is the same as the skyline crossmember. FYI Cefiro and Laurels have the same engine options as skylines like CA18i,RB20E,RB20DE,RB20DET,and RB25DE.

Thank you for the help. My info on the wiring was from Apex's website under the S-AFC wiring diagrams. Nice to know I can rule out using the A-31 x-member.

The older rb20det also had a diffrent cam, they have a tiny bit more topend than the r32 rb's but, the r32 rbs have more lower and midranged power. just a pitdont quote me on this but i think the older rb's have a 248 duration inlet cam and the r32 rb's have a 240 duration inlet and exhuast cam.

surprising ly the cefiro rb's do feel stronge to the r32 one andthe cams might be the difference. If you can get a cefiro they are jsut as good as the r 32 clip in my mind.meggala

The RB20's don't use split dur cams, so the DET version has a 240 in/EX cam while the DE version has 248 in/ex. I did the 248 swap and it worked very well for me.
