Well on a good note: The motor passes Arizona Emissions.

Problems:Idle will not go lower than 1100rpm at 15btdcTiming will not stay putCar has a limiter at 5500rpm now where it just loses powerfound a pipe cleaner in my pcv valveEcu Acting Up

Does any one have any ides on how to get the car to idle at 750 w/ 20btdc? I've tried everything I could think of..... I'm lost. It was fine Until I put the FMIC on, now its all crazy.

I have a new walboro and 300zx fuel filter.... From the sounds of it it might be an injector. Yeah I'm Thinking I'm going to need plugs after the initial start-up. Its not just a loss of Power its a wall the car won't go higher than 5500rpm.

I don't have any transmission sensors besides speedo hooked up. The ecu is showing 55. Its gear 1 through 5 only at WOT.... I'm thinking it might be TPS, CAS, or Air Control Valve problems.

I know the MAF is working because we did the disconnect test and it wants to kill the car. The AAC valve is adjusted fully closed, the CAS is all the way to the right. The TPS is centered... we haven't checked values yet though.

hahaha dont make me type the list out again.

every single one has had a serious problem.

the ecu is running in limp mode if its only revving to 5500, there IS another code somewhere, or something else is wrong.

what other codes is it flashing? Could it be, you have something critical not plugged in? Maybe all the transmission wires need to be hooked up? Does anybody have a FSM that they can look up?

Interesting how you pass emisions with your engine throwing a code.

You also said that it was fine until you put on the fmic. Maybe you do have a leak in your ic plumbing.

xjon the wires on the transmission are mostly for reverse lights, neutral switch and spedometer. nothing else.

the CEL being on dosent matter for a PRE OBDII car.

CA has smog nazis. here we have teenage idiots who dont know ****. when i origionally took it for emissions, with the hood open i had one guy ask me if i had a 6 cylinder in my 240, BEFORE I DID THE SWAP.

THE ONLY CODE IS CODE 55 (ALL GOOD)

I CHECKED AND TRIPLE CHECKED ALL MY CONNECTIONS FOR MY IC PLUMBING AND ITS ALL GOOD AND TIGHT. I KNOW ABOUT LIMP HOME MODE BUT IT SHOULDN'T HAPPEN WHEN THERE IS A ONLY A CODE 55.

I HAVE EVERYTHING PLUGGED IN EXCEPT FOR OIL PRESSURE LIGHT...... ITS WAS PERFECT UNTIL I INSTALLED THE FMIC KIT AND NOW BAM SOMETHING IS WRONG, BUT NO CODES.

Think about what you are telling us, it was fine until you nstalled the FMIC. That means SOMETHING you did while installing it went bad. Boost leak, mixed up pipes...maybe the intercooler isnt allowing enough air to flow....something related to the FMIC is your problem. Double check EVERY connection and see what happens.

I HAVE CHECKED THREE TIMES WHEN WE INSTALLED IT AND WE CHECKED THEM AGAIN LAST NIGHT THERE ARE NO LEAKS!!!! ITS NOT THE IC THAT IS CAUSING THE HIGH IDLE AND CRAPPY TIMING.... UNLESS I HAVE A VACUUM LEAK, WHICH IS POSSIBLE BECAUSE IT IS ONLY PULLING LESS THAN 15 INCHES OF VACCUM AT IDLE. HOW DO YOU MIX UP IC PIPES? ANYWAY I'LL CHECK AGAIN TONIGHT BUT I DOUBT IT'LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE.

All I know is what you tell us. If you say it was perfect BEFORE the intercooler, then something associated with the intercooler is causing the problem. I dont even know if its possible to mis up the intercooler pipes, but it was just something that came to my head. Retrace your steps and see if maybe you took off a vacuum line (like you said) and didnt put it back, or maybe slightly cut one, or something. I dont know with out seeing the car. I am just throwing out ideas for you.

I KNOW YOU ARE I'M NOT GETTING MAD AT YOU... I'M JUST PISSED THAT ITS PROBLEM AFTER PROBLEM. HEY ANYONE WANT TO TRADE FOR AN SR? AT LEAST I KNOW THOSE.

I NEED TO GET A GASKET AND SEAL SET AND JUST GO THROUGH THE WHOLE MOTOR, I'LL PROBABLY GET SILICONE HOSES TO REPLACE THE CRAPTASTIC FACTORY RUBBER ONES. CAN ANYONE GET GASKTS AND SEALS? I CAN'T FOR THE LIFE OF ME GET AHOLD OF SWR. MOTOREX AND RBMOTORING WON'T RESPOND TO MY INQUIRES SO I CAN'T EVEN GO THROUGH THEM.

Have you tried resetting the ECU? A lot of people (including myself sometimes) forget to reset it after mods. What vac is your boost gauge reading at idle?

You definately have a vacum leak my RB20det idles with 19 to 20 lbs. of vacum. This is the norm.

I RESET THE ECU AFTER EVERY IDLE AND TIME CHANGE.I DON'T HAVE A BOOST GAUGE BUT I PUT A VACCUM TESTER ON THE ENGINE AND IT IDLES WITH 13-14 INCHES OF MERCURY. NORM SHOULD BE 15+

Get some carb cleaner and spray down all the pipes and all the hoses you removed to install the fmic. Listen for rpm changes.

I've had success reaching swr at 3 am EST. So I guess 5am your time :oface

Vacuum leak, has to be, especially at that high of an idle. The higher the idle, the higher the vacuum should be. And a vacuum leak always causes idle to increase. Check something that is probably not related to the fmic install, could be any connection that is related to vacuum.

What company is that? I'm still thinking about doing the valve cover, exhaust, oilpan and main seals before I drop mine in.

Hey Christian, If you haven't figured things out yet..I have a file to send you with the rb manual (sections of it) and it tells all how to set idle and what not..and I found one part about if you have the eccs knob on the ecu turned too far clockwise it'll start lowering the rpm limit..anyway, email me at [email protected] or something and I can send it to you if you somehow don't have it.

DO YOU GUYS KNOW ANYONE WHO WANTS TO BUY A RB CAR? OR TRADE A SR CAR (WITH SIMILAR MODS) FOR A RB CAR?
