Ive searched around without a definate answer about the front (motor mount section) cross member. I have decided to do the RB swap into my 90 240sx. I think it will be the rb20. I want to know if the cross member will bolt up to my car or am I better off fabricating the new motor mounts? Im competent enough to do all the welding and fab work. but it would be alot easier(i think) to use the cross member. I also need to know all the parts I need and how to buy the clip....and a source for the clip... looking to purchase the clip within 2 weeks. Thanks for your helpScott

talk to knightxcz77. i just got my rb20det clip for a good price but its pretty bare....ill be able to post pics this afternoon. but Knight is my reccomendation not UH or other big companies as from what ive read....not to mention my friend just got screwed on a water pump for an SR and ended paying double the actual price due to supply and demand. Dauntless as well to talk to re a clip.

Crossmember does bolt right up... but you will either need to modify it or get shorter motor mounts to clear the hood and use a strut tower brace. If you don't mind just cutting the hood bracing... Night says that you can just do that to fix the clearance problem. I haven't done that b/c I want to lower the motor instead.

Only cuz I bought this damned flamethrower off E-bay and it doesn't wor, uh there it is:flamer wooooo, hey who brought the marshmallows?just whack the hood up with a hammer if it hits, I wouldn't let such trivialities as hood clearance stop me, good luck with the swap.

Well I have a few things to take care of first that came up and its probably better that I go with the rb25 after I really thought about it. So it will take some time to get the money....but I appreciate all the help. THis forum seems quite a bit more friendly then zilvia....Thanks Night I will keep the # on file.. I have a feeling I wont be able to do the swap until next year just because of time. I work for the US forest service as a firefighter and fire season is comming up soon...time will difficult....who knows I may be in WA this year!!!! heheh anyways thanksScott

i am gonna have to cut the hood bracing. what do i use to cut it? and what do i do to ensure that the bonnet is still supported. i am gonna put that heat protector matting there so the outside paint doesn't crack.

which part of the motor hits the hood? the cam belt cover or the intake manifold?
