There are "chips" available to tune your RB20DET. I think most people on here would recomend shying away from chipping your computer unless it is done by a reputable company. If it is just a chip you are looking for Contact Carl H. on here, I understand he does great work.

Then you have the Nistune option... This is a realtime editable daughterboard that gets installed like a chip into your ecu. This would be a much more viable option and you would then be able to modify the settings for any future modifications you make. These run about $400.

The third would be to go with a stand alone unit but these are expensive. There is someone in the forums setting up a group buy for the haltech units i believe in the neighborhood of $1600.

Hope this info helps.

Just as a little side note reffering to car parts in stages is the fastest way to get made fun of.

I would never buy anything thats a "stage" except a clutch. But even then i want to know the tq rating. Nistune is good and cheap and will retain alot of your factory ecu options and nice idle.

Sorry about the stages thing im just sick of 500hp civics with a stage 3 engine.

stock tach and speedo should work if the sensors were installed and the wiring was done correctly.

Carl the tach reads correctly? I thought you had to modify it in someway. And also im sure you know but would this trick work....

Using a battery measuring output voltage and turning the screw untill it decreases by 33%? I know there is a trick to doing it but i would never make you devuldge your secrets And i know the whole rev to 3k turn till 2k trick but my car isnt running at the moment so its hard to do....

OOOOO new idea tell me if im stupid.... I have an 02 sentra never looked at the diagrams at all could i use that car to recalibrate it with a muiltimeter That can read rpms?

Havnt looked at the diagrams to see if thats even remotely possible.

Yeah I second the whole "stage" chip bulls***. From my knowledge a chip or tune is really only going to be useful if it knows all the mods you have done to your car otherwise it's worthless. As for pushing a stock motor harder than it normally is intended for without any further mods...never really a good thing in my book. Sure you could probably squeeze a little more power out but reliability and the wear on the parts would have to go up.

For the speedo you will need to get a speed sensor off of a manual KA transmission and put that into the RB transmission... this was all I had to do in order for mine to work but I used the lower KA harness.

In order to get the tach to read anything you will need to wire in a 10k resistor and a 12v source to the signal wire going to the tach (look up step up resistor). This effectively (correct me if I am wrong) takes the ground signal from the RB ECU and turns it into a 5v signal for the KA tach. You will also need to recalibrate the tach as it is a 4cyl tach and you are now running a 6cyl engine.

Hope this helps

Hey I don't know what your running, but I have a chipped ecu that I'm not using. It's chipped for a rb20 with 550cc Injectors, a rb25 Turbo no Speed limiter and raised Rev limit to 8200.This Guy in the army in Germany chipped and burned this Ecu for me. Lmk if your interested.

But +1000 for Carole on wiring and chipping. He's a good dude.

My tach reads but it reads off.. I also am interested in calibrating it since it has a potentiometer in the back there is deffinetly a way to do it.
