i bet you already know the answer to that (not bashing you). weird mechanical noises are a sign of weird mechanical issues. I'd go ahead and source another one and still keep that one as a spare in case you ever need it.Rb20_POWER wrote:ya i feel it, i was just thinking if it were a bad cas, wouldn't it cause the car just not to start at all?? Is squeaking or ticking a sign that the CAS is about to go?? s***'s really annoying...
Yea usually the biggest culprit is people not using spacers. BTW I have a good working CAS in the classifieds section on here and on zilvia for 125 shipped OBO... Less work sourcing one now!240z4u wrote:Is your timing cover installed? If it isn't did you use spacers?
If not, time to find a new cas.. odds are that one is already damaged.
are the spacers you're talking about the 3 spacers that are on the actual timing cover, within the rubber gasket?? The gasket is toast but the metal spacers are intact..are the metal spacers the only thing needed or do I need to replace the rubber gasket too?? Thanks for the help.SuicidnS13 wrote:

correct answer-s13_240_rb20 wrote:The original question was: Is your timing cover installed?
Without the timing cover, your cas will slide into the engine too far by a couple of millimeters and get damaged. If you are not using your timing cover, you have to use some spacers to keep your cas installed at the proper "engine depth".
