Ive searched... found about 10 part numbers, which were on the alternator, but does anyone know which alternator will drop in without modification as I do not have a welder :-(

You can use a Nissan Quest alternator, just requires slotting the upper bracket. All of the RB swaps I have done this on ran alot better after upgrading it

I heard the 1.6 B13 sentra Alternator will bolt up without any mods. I haven't tried it because I just get mine rebuilt if it's broken.

Well, I may do the quest upgrade, but you have to do more that cutting the top bolt to angle it... which sucks monkey balls....

I just got a new kae alternator for free - from advance :-) yes, legit too....

They said I can exchange that one for a nissan quest alternator after paying 60 bucks or so... but all the info I saw on it, was you have to weld or do some other crazy stuff to get it to fit :-(

hey guys...

jus to let ya know this. When Acecool is saying cutting the top bolt.. he means by taking the alt bracket off, and trimming or cutting the upper bolt hole out of the upper bracket, becasue doing that, this will allow you to get more of a downward angle when re-installing the bracket back on, and letting the ka24e alt line up to bolt in.

but no welding, something a simple dremel could take care of?

I took a drill, and widened that inner hole (pointing to the center of the vehicle) then chopped the piece off so half of the hole is still there... 2 simple cuts with a hacksaw after making the hole wider... worked perfectly. :-)

Eh, I just used a KADE one. Ground the dog ear on top of it down so the head of the bolt was recessed enough it wouldnt rub the belt. Worked great for me.

Kid that had my motor before me took the internals out of a KA alternator and put them in the RB's housing, works fine, never had a problem.

I wonder if the same would be true with Quest internals... Something to ponder...

sorry to but i have made a hybrid starter out of three junk yard honda starters using parts from all three and it worked great so im pretty sure anyone with some extra parts and time can tinker with the rb alt, and some other nissan alternators and figure out which internals will be needed to make it happen. alot of japanese car manufacturers use the same parts manufacturers for parts like starters alternator and such

before I dropped the RB25 into my S13 I had my starter and alternator rebuilt by my friend with misc. parts.

Both (starter & alternator) were replaced with some type of mitsubishi parts.

I think the housing is really the only thing different between these alternators.

I would be interested in seeing if the Quest alternator guts would fit inside the RB25 housing.

a little searching would get ya the answer you're looking for....no...the quest alternator is larger then the rb alti so it's internals will not fit inside a smaller housing

Trust me a get a quest alternator. EVERYTHING works better! Your fuel pump gets the 14v its designed for, the headlights get more voltage, fuel injectors get more voltage and one of the biggest things is the coil packs get the proper voltage so they make much better spark.

Its a little more money but its worth it. My rb ran smoother and every thing else in the car works better too.

For what its worth, I didn't have to do any major mods to fit my alt. I just put the bracket the long bolt goes through on the back of the arm type bracket and then tightened it down. It held for over 1K miles. And some of those were at the track drifting.

I did grind the ridge on the bottom rear bolt hole. So it fit using the stock alt spacer and bolt.

I'm going to double check it now that the motor is out but its worked great so far.

I Had a friend give me one that was suppose to be off an ka24de s14 and it bolted directly up with no mods other than making the hole in the main wire bigger to fit the stud on the alt.
