what im wondering is if the readings from the z32 maf are going to cause the car to run lean.

No tune on the safc all points at 0. I'm waiting for my wideband in the mail.

Read the book for the safc. Change the maf settings.

to be a bit more clear. I have it set to 2 in 4 out as per manual it idles fine.

Im asking if the new z32 maf will end up making the ecu run lean or rich due to not having it tuned.

Dunno what the settings are.But if you set it correctly you'll be fine. The ecu /safc will know what's going on.

As long as you told the SAFC what MAF you are using, it'll be just fine for daily driving. You can probably beat on it just fine also, but I always prefer to check my tune when I change something like that before beating the crap out of it. Cheap insurance.

when i had my z32 maf in (up until last week when i swaped it back to stock, j60 i think, trying to hunt my 1800rpm idle) i kept all my points at zero. i would play up and down a bit to check afrs with wideband, but all at 0 is fine. whatever you do, dont even go leaner until the AFR gets put in,

thanks guys thats the info i was looking for. And if it helps you idle issue i found that the connector to the maf has a slight tendancy to walk off if you dont have the little metal clip holding it on. caused me a moment of stress/
