Posted this on another forum, but I thought I'd share it here too.

Well my friends RB20 transmission took a dump. He/we couldn't locate another one, but we had an RB25 trans layin around. So he decided to use that. So after I took the 20 out I put them side by side just to see what the difference was. Man what a difference! Hahahahha the 25 is so much more "girthy" I guess would be the correct word. Oh well, just thought I'd share some obviousness with everyone

yeah the rb20 trans is the same family as ka/sr but the 25 has the same transmission fammily as the Z32 so if you blow up the 25 just get a 300zx transmission swap bell housings and your good.

was he able to use it?

Can everyone confirm that the Rb20's trans has the exact same internals as the KA and SR?

Also how much power can the KA and SR trans typically hold?

thanks Dawg. I was trying to figure out what kinda motor that was. Definitely a Porsche motor from either a boxster or 911.

How do the lengths compare? Its hard to tell from the pic, but they appear to have the same dimensions; bellhousing to transmission x member looks the same, x member to shifter looks the same, etc.Throw them on a scale if you have access to one...

Yup, EJ20 type RA with a lil battle damage. The clip behind it though is complete. Another GC8, type RA

actually subaru engines are reffered to as a "boxster" engine because of the way the pistons are setup..its not referring to a Porsche Boxster, jsut a subaru "boxster" engine

Both the subaru and the Boxster (combo of BOXer and roadSTER) use a boxer motor.

He was right. He said 'boxer', but I thought Boxster for some reason...
