I've looked, thought not super hard, and can't find what the engines are rev limited to, and what it really needs to be kept under. I know RB26DETT's have been made to rev to 11k, with fully balanced and machined internals etc etc. Im just trying to figure out about what I could safely rev them too in a stock bolt on car with upped boost on 94 octane. Thanks

holy thread recursion batman!

sorry but this is the only post i could find on this topic.

So the rev limit on the 20 is 8k rpms? out of curiosity, does anyone know what the redline was set to? and does anyone have a ballpark figure on what it would take to get an rb20 to rev to 10-11k? getting my car to redline at 10k is my goal :) so if i could have it rev MAX to 11k it would be nice to have a saftey margin. referencing to 96240's first post, if they can make an rb26 hit 11k (although i am sure this was some crazy high dollar japanese madness) , shouldnt it be a lot easier with a rb20? thx :)

i think meggala meant that you can take the 26 to 8500 every once in a while, and any higher would be dangerous. repeated 8500 shifts would also be dangerous.

I"ve had my RB20 to 8700. My ecu reset the limiter to 8700 and I accidenty bounced it in 1st and 2nd in the rain one night. With aftermarket they move to a set 85-8700.

you say you accidentally hit 87, when is the highest you usually shift, like in a race or whatever?

when I had the tach in my car I would go to 8500. When I didnt I would just guess when a decent time to shift was.
