Does the procam with the 260 duration and 8.8 lift require new springs or should I just go with the poncam?

I think CarlH ran them without springs. I wouldn't go over 7500 tho. I have the 270's but I bought the springs too.

i ran them without springs revving to 8.5k, seemed to hold up ok but springs are cheap insurance.dont want to drop a valve at those rpms, heh.ive got the 260/8.8 cams with tomei springs in my car now, seems to work well.the springs look nearly identical to the std ones and even the freelength is the same but they way they are wound as the lobe approches the bottom of the head (valve open) the spring pressure does indeed increace a shistload.

How does you car idle with those? Did you see a decent power increase with the cams over stock?

car pulls hard to redline (8k) but then again the turbo can support airflow there.cams are a must if you are chasing over 300whp out of a rb20...the std bits just cant move enough air.as far as idle is concerned i run blowthru to stabilize the idle but it will occasionaly lope and when it does it sounds nasty.

are there huge benefits or disadvantages to the 270* and 260* pro cams over the 256* pon cams

the 256's are a mild bolt in cam, while the 260's are a good all round performance cam.270 is a bit high on the duration side so your usable hp range will go up in the rpm bands considerably.

Where is a good place to order them from? I see them sometimes on ebay, but they are in Japan and its like $400 per cam and $150 for shipping.

Greenline quoted me $960 for a set of procams and springs shipped. I haven't been able to find a better deal yet.

Would the 256's be fine for a mild-to-stock set-up with stock springs? I noticed someone say they are using blowthru, the stock set-up would it be fine with the 256's?

i suppose the 256's would be good for a car thats relatively stock...but on the same hand the stock cams are already somewhat of a long duration...iirc intake is 240 and the exhaust is 248, its the lift that kills only 7.5mm.i personaly wouldnt bother with the tomei pon cams, pro cams are the way to make good power but the pon cams are designed to be drop in mindless.

I just want to confirm I have the right cams. I got them second hand and they look the real deal but, I just want to make sure before I put them in.
