I just installed stock rb26 440 injectors on my rb20 and I'm having trouble.

I don't have the GTR resistor pack so a buddy and I went about wiring in six 10ohm 1/2w resistors to the injectors, one for each. We wired them in to the 12v power wire just before each injector (the wire to all six injectors is white w/ a black stripe).

The car cranks and cranks but won't start. We put a stethoscope up to each injector and none of them are clicking when cranking but then we unplugged the connector to the #1 injector and plugged it into one of the old 270s and it clicked as normal.

We've read a couple different things about what resistor type to use and info is unclear. Some people say a 10ohm resistor w/ a certain wattage is necessary but others are saying a 6ohm resistor worked for them.

If there is anyone out there who has done this to an RB20 without the GTR resistor pack please let me know what you did! Hell, any constructive thoughts or advice would be appreciated!

6ohm 10w should be sufficent, but even then it should fire with the 10ohm resistors.

Megalla doesn't seem to be working.

Carl, I figured the same thing- it should fire anyway. I started doing some research on the wattage rating and it seems possible that the resistors I have are too low at 1/2w. Now I just have to find a store that has the right resistors and I need to figure out how to get there (no car, no ride. Oh boy).

The resistors have to be 15 Watt or more. At 13 volts and 11 Ohm, you'll get 15,36 Watt. Some of the effect would be soaked up by the injector itself, so you'll get away with 15 watt resistors. This is at 100% injector duty cycle. But I think it's better to be on the safe side.

Very helpful trix, thanks a lot!

I ran some more tests today and it turns out that the rear three injectors are working after all but 1, 2, and 3 aren't. On #1 I jumped direct battery voltage past the resistor and it worked fine so the ECU must be grounding them. I have a buddy from another forum that has the right resistors so I'm hoping to give them a shot tonight.

I'll update later...

I got the right resistors and I just finished wiring everything up. All six are clicking (what a beautiful noise!) but the car still isn't firing. I did a quick check for fuel and it seems to be normal.

I'd mess with it more since I'm wired, but I have to be at work in 5 hours. We'll see what I come up with tomorrow night. At least there's a bit more hope at this point.

So I re-checked a few things and found out that the fuel supply to the rail was hooked up wrong (I know, genius).

The car runs but it runs like crap since my ECU is currently tuned for stock injectors, but that's another story altogether.

Thanks to everyone for all the help!

my buddy didnt get a resistor box with his rb26 so we used a resistor box from a v6 honda and it worked perfectly and only cost $5 from the junk yard. and it still runs with the stock 440 injectors and the honda resistor box.

Ooh.. you just peaked my interest!!!

What model years for the Honda? I've been putting this off for a long time, but if it's that easy to toss in the 440's with a honda resister box.. i'm all over it.

we used a resistor box early to mid 90's v6 accord but you will deffinitly need some type of fuel controler or youll run fat as hell and foul your plugs. if anyone is interseted i have my r33 rb26 444cc injectors for sale let me know if you are interested

Good info. I have a buddy with an RB26 project in the works so that might be an easier option than the home-made route that I opted for.
