ok... i've searched and have all the info i need to time my rb20 except for one thing... how are you supposed to get the timing light on the crank with the motor in the car? do you have to take the ac condensor and radiator out? i can't seem to get a good look at the timing marks on the crank whatsoever!

Umm Haven't done it myself. But I guess just try and stick your head down there and don't get burned. lol

I guess try to go from the drivers side.

Just remember Clockwise the first mark on the pulley is 0 then they go up in 5 degree incriments.

ok....... maybe i'm not getting this right.... am i supposed to be comparing the marks on the pulley to the bump/mark on the crank cover? do I shoot the timing light on the bump/mark while the car isn't running? sorry for being an idiot... but it seems like I'm doing something if not everything wrong

Yeah bro the car's gotta be running.

SHine the light on the crank pulley/timing cover. And make sure you hook it up also to the wire loop at the back of the motor.

Where exactly this loop is????I dunno, I haven't put a timing light on my car.

i feel like a complete dumbass, but I don't see any marks on the timing cover near the crank pulley whatsoever. I see several marks on the pully itself and one potruding mark on the timing cover near the crank pully. Does anyone out there know where exactly these marks are??? Sorry for bein so ignorant, but I'm in desperate need of help here.... my timing is either super advanced or it's more retarded than the cast from the movie the ringer! And I don't even know which one it it!!! Please someone help me figure this out!!!

Do you have the FSM????If not GET IT!!! It will be your bible, koran or torah.

Read up in the FSM on the timing.

The pully has marks on it.

"Just remember Clockwise the first mark on the pulley is 0 then they go up in 5 degree incriments."

The timing cover has 1 mark/bump on it.ok when that one bump meets a certain mark on the pulley.Guesss what?????That's what it is...

Just go do it.You'll figure it out!!!And if you don't figure it out, take it to a shop and have them do it.
