hey guys have a question..
so i got my rb20 running great was working on bleeding the coolant system lower radiator hose had flow
then my dumb*** forgot to put a clamp on the lower hose and it popped off coolant went everywhere..
so put it back on, clamped it, worked on bleeding the system AGAIN and now it seems like the lower radiator hose isn't getting any flow
seemed warm (luke warm) to touch but couldnt really feel any movement
could the hose popping off cause the thermostat not to work?? to my understanding no flow to lower hose = bad thermostat
but it was working perfectly fine before, was shoing like 190 on the water temp gauge so im assuming it should have been open by then
might be a dumb question but.. im confused why its doing this
thanks guys (sorry for all the posts she should be running fine soon and i can stop annoying you maybe ill learn something to help contribute someday)

She's sitting at 195 pretty consistently
Is this normal? I've seen low temp thermostats would this help?

the car is also losing oil at a rate that kind of worries me..
filled it up to half way between the H and L on the dipstick yesterday and today it was below the L
I only drove it a few miles yesterday
seemed to be leaking an oil like substance from somewere around the alternator couldnt find exactly where
but it didnt really taste like the oil I put in it..
gonna call the shop i bought the engine from monday and see if he can take a look at it but
any help is appreciated before then

Depends on what your using for cooling? electric fans might keep it cool but my experience is that when you really start to get on it they don't keep up. 195 for idling isn't bad at all, also what kind of gauge are you using? As for the oil make sure the car is on leveled ground and wait I think it's 5min after you shut the car off to check the oil.

Just antifreeze and water 2 12 inch fans one push one pull since two pullers wouldn't fit. I'm using a water temp gauge in the upper hose. Do you know what might be leaking oil around the alternator? There's oil dropping of that and the lower rad hose but can't seem to find the source.

That must have been it checking my oil too soon after shut off
There's still that small leak but its staying level
Also, I've got pin 43 cold start wire to the orange wire on the dash plug but it still takes a good few cranks when cold to get going is there something I'm missing that you know of?

I duno mine takes a few cranks before it starts to go too. Tho I don't remember how it was with the stock ecu since it's been a while since I switched to a AEM S2.

kinda of an old post of mine but
I was looking into getting an oil cooler to help lower my temps
i read the sticky by carl H showing his cooler setup and how to on his RB25
He used some parts to add in a filter relocation
My question is... is a filter relocation necessary for an oil cooler?
trying to save a few bucks as it will already be costing near 300 bucks without the relocation stuff
thanks guys

No but it helps because your going to use a sandwich adapter and it moves the oil filter out more from the block. Our filters are kinda big too so that don't help much.

unless its absolutely necessary because of not enough room i might skip it for now then
the thermostat sandwich im looking at http://www.summitracing.com/parts/ear-502erl
it says the inlet/outlet are -10 AN O rings
if i didnt get the relocation would i just need -10AN Flare Unions? http://plumbingmonkey.com/index.php?rou ... Qgodc3YAmg
something like that link but -10AN and not -12AN (found -10AN in a JEGS magazine but their site is down for maintenance)
thanks for all the help again

this is basicaly what im wanting to do lol

pretty much ordered all the stuff in this pic so far the thermostat, replacement stud, and those blue fittings
would an oil filter just screw directly onto that thermostat? (rather than the blockoff to a relocated filter)
