Below I have included 2 pictures of the 3 plugs that were attached to my rb harness which run to the cluster.I got both sides of the plugs. I have laid them need to the old ka harness/ecu plug. I am correct in thinking that i just need to wire those 3 plugs into the one ka plug and then all my interior wiring will be done except for tach correct? I also am having trouble finding a wiring diagrham for the 3 plugs ont eh rb side and they are not the same colors of the 3 plugs mentioned in the sticky going by Carl H's write up.

Well im gonna kinda take a stab at this since i am kinda at the same stage as you...For the ka harness:Yellow/Red --TachYellow/Green--SpeedometorOrange--Ignition startBlack---GroundBlue/Black---Water temp sensor

So i believe the only one that you dont just match is the speedometer, which you just run directly to the ka speed sensor that you swapped in...You also dont have the orage ignition wire from the harness in with that little group of wires you have in the pic...

Please correct me if im wrong as i havent done this yet either but this is from what i understand...

oh and dont forget to swap your ka water temp sensor (the single wire one) in for the RB one so your cluster works properly...

Carl I need your help. I remember a few topics ago you offered your help on interior wiring and I said I was pretty sure I had it figured out but I was wrong. I was going off your wiring names/colors for plug 1,2,3 of the rb and the ones for teh ka but they are for 91-94 and i have an 89 and there are some descrepancies. I so far have the temp hooked up and know which one is the tach wire on the RB harness and on the ka chassis harness. Here is color of wire i have located for KA harness and have figued out what they are:Grey/blue-not on clusterOrange----not on clusterGreen/white---on cluster but leads to nothingLight green----not on clusterGrey------ Not on clusterRed/yellow----- IlluminationBlue/black------ Temp (I have hooked up)Yellow/red------ Tach (I know what to do i have to get msd adapter)Yellow/green--- BRK ( Does this stand for brake????)Black------------- GroundGreen------------ IgnitionRed--------------- On cluster but leads to black spot on mine labeled (ALB)Blue/green------ FM ( No idea what this leads to Radio maybe?Green/purple--- Not on dashRed/green------- Beam ( i'm guessing so you know when the hihg beams are on. But why would this lead down to one of the plugs by ecu?Purple------------ Not on cluster

Thanks to anyone who can help.

its that my rb plugs are different colors then the ones listed in your interior wiring. you know the 3 plugs. Also I don't see the cold start wire. Its green correct? where does it run to and from?i have tach, temp, oil pressure hooked up so i only have to hook up 5 others correct? also is BRk for brake?

No I am using the stock 89 cluster from my 240sx. I know the tach won't work so i'm looking for a maxima 6cyl in junkyard tomarrow. Its just the other wires on the rb side that are confusing me.

all you have to hook up is the tach, temp and ground wire for the cluster to work, the other wires are for the diagnostic connector and ac.

OK had them all hooked up already. I just gotta get my tach sorted out. I happen to have a spare dash from a 1978z in one of my sheds, I'm going to take out the tach and see if that will work on the rb20 signal since the 280 was a 6cyl. Think it has oilpressure, volt, water temp guages on it too. One other question is it normal that when the key is turned off and not in car that ecu still shows red led on back of it? Cause I went to start car and battery was dead I know the battery I have in it is on its last leg but still the diagnostic light is annoying cause even with the interior piece covering ecu and light it bothers me knowing that it is on.
