So my 240 has been sitting for about 2 weeks without being ran. It took a bit, but finally started. I let it idle for about 5-6 minutes, then turned it off. About an hour later, I went back out, it started right up, let it idle for about 3 minutes and took it around the block. I gave it a little gas (bout 5 psi) and then it started smoking and sounded like a wrx so i went straight home, got it in the driveway and turned it off. now it wont start at all. I have a fuel pressure gauge inline, and when you turn the key, it jumps to 40psi, then drops to zero. WTF? In 4 years, this is the first time i have had any trouble. I have a nismo FPR and a walbro fuel pump. any ideas??

just like any no start, start with the basics

air, fuel, spark.

verify they are getting INTO the cylinder. not just that there may be fuel pressure for example.

pump is are dead.if it builds pressure for a second but does not sustain then the pump has gone bad...

is the pump turning itself off? (check voltage at the pump)

how is your engine wired? if its hard wired it should run as long as the key is on, if its run through the ecu it will only prime for a couple seconds.

if its priming then losing pressure you have a faulty drainback valve in the pump but that SHOULD not cause the engine to not run. i had a failed drainback valve in a walboro for over a year before it finally completely failed.

its the same when either just turning the ignition on or actually starting the car. Pressure for 2 seconds, then pressure drops to zero.

Ok, figured it out. The injector on cylinder 3 went bad. Here is what i siphoned off the piston.

about a cup worth of gas!

so i am having the injector rebuilt next week, compression is about 140 accross all cylinders (cold)

Well, I'm sure it was hydrolocked if it wouldn't turn over, but that in and of itself isn't that bad. Getting a lot of liquid (fuel, water, etc) into the cylinder while the engine is running is what turds them. Your starter motor doesn't have enough tourque to bend a rod or **** a piston. The momentum of your motor/drivetrain sure does though. I found that one out the hard way in my jeep after about 12 beers and a "hey watch this"

I have a question for you if it was a cups worth in that cylinder. Where was the piston at on its stroke?
