I have searched through the threads and found some posts with issues similar to mine but there seem to be more symptoms with most.

This is what im facing...New RB20 install in a S13. 1- Motor will crank and crank all day with no result but if i use a bit of starting fluid it will buck and then start when i stop turning the key. Once it starts it idles fine, no bucking or stuttering at all. As soon as i turn it off it starts the whole cycle again regardless of how long it has been running.

2- motor idles fine but when reved up it feels like its hitting fuel cut at about 1/4 throttle im assuming its about 2500 RPM's. The ECU is flashing a diagnostic code for the MAF. I cleaned the MAF, double checked the MAF wiring...shielding is intact so im wondering if anythig else could cause this before i buy a new MAF.

Biggest problem is the car is in Florida and i live in Virginia so my last three weekends have been spent flying down and working on it. The airfare is going to end up costing me more that the swap did! Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

if you double checked the wiring and cleaned up the maf really good and its still going into limp mode then more than likely you have to get a new maf. get a green label maf.

Is something special about the green label MAF, or should i get the Z32 maf instead?would the two problems both be from the MAF or is the starting a seperate issue?

green label mafs are stock mafs. do not get a z32 maf unless you have something to tune your car with so you can tune the car to accept the new z32 maf.

Have you checked continuity from the MAF connector back to the ECU connector for all the wires? Are you getting 1v off the MAF (measured at the ECU connector) at idle?

wiring is bad.i assume the maf has been extended so check to make sure that it is right.
